Love PJ but it’s pretty obvious we should’ve just taken Carter or Anderson like most people wanted. Just like it was obvious we should’ve drafted Lamar and Wirfs and DK and Lamb an so on and so on. Cardinals have been run by idiots for years. Keim saw Rosen and said I’ll take this guy over Lamar, you literally have to be insane.

Eh Lamar had some damn warts.

But we don't know what these guys are really like behind closed doors and it's quite obvious that a lot of people didn't really like Rosen on a personal level.

Will A is a REALLY good player. Plays on a D that maximizes his opportunities

in the draft, if you are going to pass on an outstanding player, you better end up with another outstanding player.

they ended up with another outstanding player -- not one with the impact Anderson has had, but one none the less.

Was the right move at the time, but Houston screwed it up by winning so many games and Monti exacerbated it with his pick of DRob.

one one hand: i get the strategy of both loading up on draft picks and solidifying the offensive line (in hopes of getting the most out of your QB). It made sense. I also am an "always trade down" kinda person.

on the other: you had DJ Humphries already. You didnt have a premier pass rusher.

of all of Monti's choices, that wasnt one that is holding them back.

They ended up with a good player. Not as good. Not a Big John. Anderson is a Big John. PJJ isn't.

Same number of sacks as Josh Sweat last year in way more snaps
Some people just like to argue.

Fun fact: Anderson and Sweat have almost identical stats this season.
@kerouac9 laughed at this, then made the same post himself!

I bet Anderson has a sack in the 4th quarter this season.

Do you really think Will Anderson and Josh Sweat are equivalent players?

As I said then... of course not, nor did I say such a thing.

But Anderson also has Danielle Hunter playing across from him - who had 3 more sacks, one fewer QB hit, and the same number of FFs as Anderson.

Bidwill seems to be able to always pick the guy that thinks they’re smarter than everybody else has his GM

I like Paris a lot, but it is worrying that the FO was gonna pick him instead of Will even if the trade didn’t happen.
I think that’s just what they said. Anderson has definitely exceeded expectations as a pass rusher even three seasons into his career.

Paris Johnson Jr has, charitably, met expectations three seasons into his career. Ended the past two seasons on IR and didnt make the leap many were hoping for.

I’m sure the Cards will pick up his fifth-year option this winter but I’m in no hurry to extend him. I think the OL was a mess schematically and didn’t let him shine.

Taking Simmons over Wirfs/Lamb was by far the most egregious on that list. Monti was mostly praised here and nationally for the PJJ trade down even though it backfired big time. As for Lamar every team passed on him including the Ravens.

I believe in taking the BPA, period. Denny Green believed this too, and this was a big reason we went to the SB in 09… Any other coach/GM/current front office for this putrid organization wouldn’t have drafted Larry. Just like they didn’t draft Suggs, AP, or Will Anderson… You take BPA, every time. Even if you are loaded at tackle, you can have the rook play guard or trade one of the veteran tackles for DRAFT PICKS/another player. I’d argue that trading in that scenario is far more of a sure thing than trading out of the drivers seat for a guy like WA for a PJJ.

Take the BPA.

I would extend him asap. Same with Wilson.
