That guy right there sums up Monti Ball.

If the Cards picked the guys the board screams for and it turned out good. The Cards would be recruiting here. So would the rest of the NFL.

Yes but then how would NFL peoples’ sons and nephews get work?

The founder of PFF was some Scottish guy trying to make sense of the NFL. Front office execs don’t have a ton of special knowledge. Mostly what they have is the capacity to work for $25k a year out of college and a couple of the right phone numbers.

I agree. I supported him taking MHJ for the same reason I wanted him to take Anderson. And, why I wanted him to take Nolen. They were very arguably the most talented players on the board at that spot. It's not going to work out perfectly 100% of the time, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it.

MHJ and Nolen still both have the potential to be great NFL players although I think MHJ is somewhat damaged mentally. He needs his confidence rebuilt. Cannot say for sure that will happen but we need him to be close to our hopes if we are going to be even half-assed in the next season or two.

Losing out on Anderson gives me hope Monte decides to go with Bailey for Texas Tech. He’ll need to improve on run defense but I wouldn’t mind that guy rushing the passer.
