Bumping this because it’s still true

petzing and kyler carried the offense today - both had some misses but nothing crazy - the td pass to conner over the all out blitz was delightful - guess who called and designed that - the deep ball to marvelous was very well timed both the playcall AND the throw - guess who called that - listen man. there is never going to be a game where kyler throws on every play - he doesn't change clothes in phone booths - he's human - he poops on and off the field when petzing is no where around

Exactly. Kyler is Kyler and changing OCs is not going to make him more than a middling QB with occasional flashes of brilliance.

We won today because of K1
We won today for sure. Because of K1? Not even close. If we won today because if Kyler then we're A 4 or 5 win team, 168 yards passing is not the reason we won today. Unless you're saying K1 is just a game manager and he did enough for us to win. Ya I would agree to that, but that's not what you're saying.

Easy several drives kept alive by scrambling and finding the open man.

Put us in position to kick an easy FG for Ryland while special teams blows it.

No turnovers , no turnovers, no turnovers

Got us out from deep in our own side of the field as well.
Okay, this is fair. But also, this isn't leading the team to a win. It is game managing. It is helping the team not lose. Today was KM in a nutshell. Some good, some bad, nothing consistent.

We won today because we played the worst team in the league.

No one gets real credit for this game. Especially a mediocre Kyler…. Or anyone else who played at his up and down level.
Yeah few stand out players today. I’ll give them a little grace in that it’s the first game…I’m not surprised there was rust after basically another preseason of no starters playing.

On the bright side that’s one less road game to have to worry about. Glad we got to play them in NO.

I feel like there are maybe 20 QBs in the NFL who could have won this game. Kyler takes about as much off the table as he adds.

We won I like em both, Kyler irked me playing hero ball and taking the sack late. I never thought they were ready for opening day without playing in preseason. Looked like it, but I give some credit to the saints too. They played hard.

Some good, some bad, and a lot of in between today. Which is exactly what openers usually look like. Murray completed 72% of his passes, had some critical runs, threw 2 touchdowns (one to MHJ!!) and most importantly, zero turnovers. I wasn’t overjoyed with the play of the OL or DL, but I’m sure they’re pretty rusty not having played much in the preseason. And there wasn’t much tape out there on the current Saints roster. We’ll know more next week when we play Carolina. I’m kind of curious to see how the Saints play against the Niners next week.
