At any cost? He's a clear step below everyone on this list. If you can do it for 25 per, then fine...anything more than that (with a half of a season of real production) is way too speculative.
No, certainly not at any cost, but I still think they should get it done. He’s definitely a young talent who’s proven he can play the question is imo is can he stay healthy?

Yeah, his career outside of Brissett throwing him a ton of passes in the second half of last year in mostly garbage time has been pretty mediocre. I personally would like to see more from him before committing big money. I don't think he's anywhere near most of the names on that list.

But his career was mediocre because he was #2 or 3 on Murray's list of receivers. And whether it was lack of oline protection or Murray's lack of being able to see over the middle he never had a chance to throw to him. Garbage time or not, Wilson proved he can catch the ball.

Now, because if he has a year almost as good as any of those other dudes, extending him next year will cost even more.

Possible, but pure speculation at this point. Let's see him do it for over half a year before committing crazy money?
I see your logic, but I’d rather sign him when he’s cheaper. Some of the catches he made last year were the type of catches we were expecting and hoping Marvin to make. He would go up and get the ball and Highpoint it and take it away from the defender. He’s shown he’s capable. But I understand where you’re coming from.

Oh, the other reason you extend Wilson now is because Marv will be eligible going into next season and you do not want to get caught needing to extend both of them at the same time... especially if Wilson continues to grow and Marv finally breaks out.

Very true. So, should Mr Cheapskate sign him now to a reasonably better contract or bet that last year was a fluke and IF Wilson proves he's as good as last year, end up paying MORE than he had to? We're outsiders, I would hope the organization has a better feeling on which way to go.......but we've been fooled before

wow Flowers is good but my god they gave him 10 million per TD. He has 14 career TD's in 3 years and 140 million. I know he's put up good stats 2 1000 yard seasons on a team that's not a great passing team, very good player but man that's a ton of money.

IMO it’s a reason not to pay Wilson. If MHJ shows he can be a top WR, you can let Wilson leave unless he also reveals himself to be truly special.
I have a hard time imagining MHJ giving this team a reason to sign him to an extension after his third season. His fifth year option will likely be an enormous bargain and baseline for a future deal.
I'd have to wait and see the details of that contract. I have a feeling that there is a bunch of "funny money" in those numbers.

So, you're betting on MHJ to finally develope into what everyone expected, and I hope you're right. But what if he doesn't? But let Wilson leave? It's no wonder the cards suck.....don't pay good players, let them leave. And who replaces them? A draft pick of the future, maybe next year we draft a rookie or 2028...2029...2030. You're thinking just like Bidwill. I'm disappointed K9, you're much smarter than that.

I’m in favor of extending Wilson. It’s not my money; if he continues on his current path he’ll be worth a top 10 deal until Puca extends. Top 5 through 8.
I don’t think we should be planning on Marv beyon his fifth year. Even if Marv continues on his current path, his fifth-year option will be a value. Then we’re in 2028 and anything is possible.

It depends on how you view Wilson. If you think he is a top *insert number here* WR, and your offense needs him in a different role than MHJ, then paying him sooner is great because it gets you into his escalated contract years quicker which will benefit you if/when you need to do a MHJ extension. I don't believe it would be prudent to risk losing your only WR to have a 1000 yard season based on the hope that MHJ can replace him in the offense. There are a lot of factors to consider in that. Which WR role is most important for the offense to be successful? Can MHJ play that role better than Wilson? Is it financially prohibitive to pay two WRs along with a TE and RB? IMO, if the idea is to take a QB in the first round of next years draft or move forward with Beck, I feel like the money shouldn't be an issue. Pay Wilson now. Pay MHJ if he earns it in two years. Max your weapons on offense, and if you have too many players to pay, things have probably worked out well for the team.
I just hesitate to anoint MHJ as a top WR extension candidate until I see he has earned it on the field. That doesn't mean the front office may not have questions about paying Wilson still, that could be a hold up. It's more of understanding how MLF wants his offense to work, and what players are the most valuable to achieving that. IMO, Wilson's skill set is more akin to Puka's than Davante's. That doesn't guarantee Wilson will get that volume, because McBride will factor in to the target distribution, but it could be that the Wilson/McBride combo routes are the driver of the pass game and MHJ's role is more of a complementary piece.
I'm in Colorado so the basketball analogy I would go to is, is MHJ akin to Michael Porter Jr. and Wilson/McBride are Jokic and Jamal Murray in terms of the offensive scheme?

This is pure irony at its best...LOL. We're projected to win maybe 2-4 games this year, and many members here agree with that. And yet, we have too many good players on offense that it's going to be a future issue paying all these players....Only the Cardinals could have this problem....LOL
