If I thought the target was only 2 above the over/under I wouldn’t touch it with a 10 foot pole. One Booker injury and that’s a loss.

Draft Kings has it set at 30.5. Over is -120 and under is +100. I'll put $100 on it to make the season more entertaining. 31 wins is a possibility. I agree Booker getting hurt throws that money away but if he can play 70+ games then I think there's a good chance we land right around there.

+370 for a play-in appearance also. Not going that route but tempting.

I really don't understand why you would want to make a bet on this team when so much is unknown.

Brand new coaching staff, 80% new roster, you are basing your bet off of very little.

We know how the roster will look. I'm betting a little over a dollar a game that we'll win 31+ games. It adds to the excitement and costs less than league pass. Having a stake in the outcome adds to the intrigue.

I was not aware that Jalen Green was such a superstar that he's a lock for a starting spot regardless of roster composition, playing style and team needs.

Is it based on averages from the previous seasons, draft position, size of contract, or all of the above? Maybe he's clearly better than the next guard we have. I guess we'll find out. I haven't watched much of him or noticed his play in particular.

No one has said that he is a superstar. But he is a qualified starter and was a cornerstone for the second seeded Rockets last season.

I have heard quite a lot of talk that they played better with him on the bench so opinions differ. Guess we'll find out. He played off the ball there, right? VanVleet was PG? How did he get his points?

It's more like Jalen Green started 82 regular season games for the Rockets and was one of the plums in the Durant trade.

Also, he is only 23, the second overall pick in the 2021 draft and going to make a good chunk of change, $33,584,499, this season.

If the Suns didn't start him, it would almost be an admission by the Suns front office it was a bad trade.

Now, how it works out is another matter.

4th worst defense last season allowing over 117 points per game. That's going to be hard to recreate. With Brooks, Dunn, better center play. I hope to see a more balanced team this year. Will we win more than 31? I could see it. That said, I feel our ceiling is 41 games. .500 club sounds about right if everything goes well.

Fair assessment, if "everything goes well" is given a heafty amount of leeway.

If Williams has his first healthy season, if Maluach can contribute somewhat, if Green shows he's not just a chucker and, most importantly, if Booker can stay largely healthy, we could be somewhere between 6th and 10th.

I also think we won't be quite so putrid on defense... defense is heavily about effort in the NBA and that team lacked in quality and severely in effort.

I worry more about the offense than defense. I don't see a clear "plus" offensive player on the roster outside of Booker, and he is going to face the teeth of the defense every game,

I see some "experts" compare us to the Kings. Just looked at the Sac Kings. They were 40-42 last season, and that was in a tough Western Conference. They did not make the playoffs if I am reading the standings correctly. Last place was the Jazz at 17-65. There's a whole lot of variability there. I could see the Suns hit 40 games, and we feel good about them, but they fail to make the playoffs.

I think we get compared to the Kings because of our front offices, both teams have made some horrible, nonsensical, trades the last few years and both are ran by owners who are far too involved in the roster construction.

I think the last part of the equation would be either another unexpected addition or one of the other main rookies (Flemming, Brea) being a surprise contributor.

I personally wouldn't put much faith in either happening. Not that Flemming/Brea can't turn into contributors down the road. It's just not very likely next year. And of course, we could still make a trade or two during the season, but it's not likely to be for an impact player anytime in the short term.

So barring a minor miracle, I don't see any likelihood of much surpassing 30-ish wins.

Drinking the kool aid and I say we make the playoffs as the 6th seed. Do we win a game in the playoffs? Probably not.

After watching Media Day, I'm thinking the Suns should go 82-0. :)

I could be optimistic enough to buy a play in team....maybe.
