they dont have any first round draft picks for like a decade.
they have to win more just to screw the teams that have their picks.

But why bother with the no major trades caveat? Do they even have the assets to make a trade major enough to have that big an affect?...and what determines major?

It’s going to be close to the same record. We are better on defense, younger and more athletic. We are better on paper. Hopefully coach gets to translate all that into some fun wins.

I don’t think there’s a chance in hell.

If they win 30 games, I’ll be kinda amazed.

I believe last season's roster didn't fit as a team. It's so ugly to watch KD isos with lots of TOs, over and over again. Hope new coach could build a team giving it out on D like the Rockets and Grizzs, and then see whether Green could unlock his talent in a new environment.

I am going to say yes, but that's more of an indictment of how bad the last year's team was. I am also going against my gut here in assuming Green/ Book back court is not going to be a disaster.

One play maker, all the respectable shooters play the same position, paper thin upfront with a heavy reliance on guys who are totally unproven or injury prone.

The play making and ball handling is where I think they’re going to be in the most trouble. When Booker sits there is no one else on the team who can set anything up.

I’m hoping they’re more fun to watch and they play hard but they’re going to lose a lot of games.

Sounds like 5 wins based on that description.

last year's squad was talented - often injured - often banished - often uninterested - they took the fun out of dysfunctional

this year's squad has no experience together and we have a rookie coach - but ott won't (or better not) be on some ego driven power trip - and nobody besides booker is making the max for the foreseeable future - everyones got reasons to produce

if we have fun we can win some later in the year

I still have trouble understanding why we were so bad last season following our strong start. I think we'll be a little worse than last year's team although maybe not worse than the team we had last year AFTER the hot start. Low 30's.

Exactly. In fact, I would say there's no way in hell they get much past the 30 win mark unless Maluach, Fleming, Brea, or some other newcomer not named Jalen Green has a surprisingly huge immediate impact.

In other words, no one should be holding their breath.

Unless Booker goes down, they won’t be that bad but unless they play really good defense and they have good chemistry they’re going to lose like 50 games at least.

I’m not a fan of Brooks, I think he’s a cheap shot artist, but at least it’s somebody who you know will get pissed off if we suck. Last year, no one seemed to care.

Hopefully, he brings back Booker’s fiery competitive spirit as well.

We are better on paper without KD? No we are not.

Voted no, but figure to be right around 35 wins. So, seems like that number is close.

As a team we are or can be better. As a collection of talent? No. Durant only works in very planned out environments. When your system is reduced to "watch KD iso" then you won't be very good.

I'm curious how Houston will far since their offense was a bit of a mixed bag. They let Jalen do a lot of isolation ball and he was more active off ball when Sengun set up as a high post C like Jokic. KD doesn't move off ball but Sengun won't have the movement off ball he had before for outlets.

tyus ‐---‐-‐------- vs jalen = we're better
book ------------- vs book = =
not beal -------- vs dunn = better?
kd ----------------- vs brooks = worse
richards -------- vs williams = better

Dunn is not better than Beal - as much as I wish he was, and he was on the team last year.

KD's superiority over Brooks more than makes up the diff in Jalen and Williams gains.

The thing with KD is he could always make something happen on offense by himself if necessary. When Book is off the floor we could very well be as stagnent as the Rockets were last year - and not be as good defensively.

That's exactly why I said Yes on this poll. Suns were way worse than they should have been based on talent.

I'd argue that KD's and Beal's superiority to other on an individual level did not translate into wins, so I think it's possible that both things are true- KD and Beal may be superior individual players, and Suns can win more games with less individual talent.
