I think they did this because they want the flexibility for 2026. Even with carryover, the Cards have just $13.5 million in cap space going into next year. We don't have a ton of FAs to fret about (Jonah Williams and Jalen Thompson are likely gone to be replaced by 2024 draft picks), but Garrett Williams and Paris Johnson Jr. will be extension-eligible.
Not to mention...if we have strong positioning when the trade deadline approaches we have the cap flexibility to bring in any player that might be available if we choose.

So, what does that make it, 3 years in a row they carried a bunch of cap space because they're definitely really gonna spend it NEXT year? lol Different year, same story.

Any money in the bank has low yields but i do like the fact its there when I need to put it to work.

Sounds like Bilal Nichols, Walter Nolen, and BJ Ojuari will start camp on the PUP list. Good news, there is a lot of bodies behind Nichols and Nolen that should get good reps. EDGE isn't as deep, but more reps for Burch and Thomas.

Curious to see where Burke gets a lot of his reps.

People won’t like to hear it, but Gannon runs a pretty soft camp. I don’t think Tomlinson and Campbell are going to see a lot of reps, either.

These preseason games are gonna be bleak.

Gotta keep that powder dry.
okay..Stout,... who would you have spent the money on??
Because there is nobody. While I aint zippidy doodah over the current roster there isnt an nfl player out there looki9ng for a job that I think would really improve our team.

Monti had a great off season... Got Sweat,...swing and a miss on Freis(bummer) another swing and a miss on that DT,...but then a recovery when he got Dalvin Tomlinson...
we all know we could use another WR... but the guy just aint available.
if not spending money just to make sure you are broke is considered keeping your powder dry,...then count me in.

Also Freis was injured for 3/4 of the year last year. I get Monti not wanting to risk that much (bidding war) for that injury history.

Does it concern anyone else that BJ is basically a year out from his ACL injury and is still on the PUP list?

Would have thought he’d be ready to roll when camp opened.
He suffered the injury Aug 2nd of last year. Trying to see when he had surgery. Sometimes they wait a bit for swelling to go down.

100% Gannon could get the axe this year if we only win five or six games.

But barring an injury to K1, it's really hard to imagine this team winning less than nine games.

The coaching is too good, the roster is too solid, and there's too much veteran leadership for us to be below .500 in 2025.

Ojulari *shakes head*

The Nolen injury is an absolute nut punch. Now Nichols? Not good for his chances.
