I don't understand this. He can play with the team 50 games and practice throughout the season. With the G-League team being in Phoenix there is no real issue recalling him if needed. He's a shooter and deserves a look but this is summer league. If he earns a rotation spot during the season then I can see calling for him to get a real NBA contract but we hold control on his rights and can bring him along in the G-League now. Even if he is impactful in the pro game, SG is our deepest position and the minutes aren't there to develop him in games. He'll get more run by going on G-League assignment.
What I mean is it appears he is a better shooter than Grayson, and is a heck of a lot cheaper. I would prefer to give him time since we are going to suck anyway. I want him to play more than 50 games, and I would like him locked up on as long of a contract as we can.

oso shot 66% today - 8 buckets on 12 attempts - created his own shots off the dribble and was often the first sun downcourt on fastbreaks - pulled 9 boards with 3 steals and 2 blocks on defense

i think it'll be maluach coming off the bench at center and oso coming off the bench at power forward because their games complement eachother especially with maluach shooting 3s

brea is no defensive juggernaut but if he can rebound along with them 3s we can probably work around him literally by not allowing switches

Compared to Brea, Allen is Gary Payton on defense. I love the kid, but he couldn't guard a chair if it were glued to the floor.

Oso made me change my mind. He can sit on the bench unless injuries make him pkay

Well, I do agree. Even so Grayson is a bad defender as well, and I actually think Brea is not only a better shooter, he is better at finding ways to get his shot off.

Maluach is the 10th pick and they will be developing him this year. He will get 20 minutes a game even if he sucks.

It may appear Oso can drive to the basket, but I seriously doubt he will be able to do so in the actual NBA. He has to get a jump shot, there is no substitute for it.

Lets settle down here, it is still summer league, heck a lot of players aren't even in the g-league.

Oso is sill oso, looking good against anything other than actual nba players.

Brea's skill set is transferable to an actual NBA team, heck its what the nba team is today, jacking up 3's and hardly any resistance on D.

I thought Hunt looked good game 1, reminded me a little of Naz with less shooting, idk I think he has a shot at making a team, very overlooked imo.

Our difference on this, like we discussed Collin Gillespie, I like to wrap up players early on cheap long term contracts.

It's not unlike when quality items are on sale at the grocery store, to stock up.

Gillepsie was more proven than Brea. This was his Colin's second year on a main squad. Brea needs to show himself in the pros. He's the 3rd rookie in the pecking order and likely the 6th Guard in the rotation. If Grayson can be traded, convert him, but until that happens I hope he sees more time in the G-League. I hope Oso spends a lot of time there also as he seemed to get a confidence boost last season from his stint.

We need to get used to having a G-League team again. Ishbia has prioritized it much more than Sarver and being in Phoenix is really a huge advantage for call ups and assignments. I hope the league adds another Two-Way deal for teams that has no game restriction, sort of like the Covid years, and allows each team to utilize 1 of those where that particular slot can be playoff eligible as well.

We definitely agree about the G-League aspect of it.

Oso Ighodaro was signed to a four-year, $7.9 million contract. He was drafted at #40. Koby Brea was drafted at #41.

I saw a video where the analytics were saying that he is the best collegiate shooter since Stephan Curry (and he is 6-7, not 6-3). And he has a lot of attempts to work with in a five year college career.

I always see these scorching assessments of a player's defense and I have to believe it is exaggerated. Did you actually watch scouting videos of his D? I have searched in vain to find them.

I think these kids play too much. Their knees are already worn down before entering the NBA.
Its not just the amount of time they play, its how they play. The game has to be a constant demonstration of athleticism these days. Its ok to play below the rim on some plays.

I dont they are fully guaranteed, maybe 2 years for Oso, the rest are probably team options.

The point I'm making, it's wise to wrap up a high potential player on a cheap contract.

Team options take the risk out of additional seasons. If one does the math, it's a really good way to do business with the salary restrictions of the CBA.
