Jordan Gainey from Tucson, AZ

Tennessee guard Jordan Gainey will play for the Summer Suns, Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress reported.

Before he played for Tennessee and USC Upstate prior to that, Gainey was a star at Tucson Salpointe Catholic, where he won a 4A state championship as a senior in 2019-20, while his father Justin was an assistant at Arizona. Justin was Tennessee’s associate head coach last year.

Jordan initially signed with Pima Community College out of high school before instead choosing the postgraduate route ahead of his four-year Division 1 career.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard is coming off an exceptional close to his college career that included SEC All-Tournament honors and NCAA Tournament All-Region honors.

Yuri Collins and Boogie Ellis are listed as point guards elsewhere.

Well, this team is basically all the Suns hope for the next 5 years. I really hope they look good.

It will be an interesting team to see, usually the guards really don't work in summer league as they are usually out to get their own shots and points instead of pass first. What will be interesting is to see how guys can create shots for themselves, usually summer league showcases that aspect of their game more than anything else.

Seeing “Battle” makes me think back on Kenny battle. So bummed he wasn’t as good as Kendall Gill (one of my favorite collegiate ball players ever), or Nick Anderson. That flyin’ Illini squad with Stephen bardo and Marcus liberty was super fun.

They wanted the Euro League guy on the summer league roster, but his buyout took too long.

Maybe Nigel Hayes-Davis can still play in some summer league games, unless you have heard otherwise.

Plus side of the rebuild is that SL now feels like must watch TV. What could be nearly half our regular season rotation is playing.

I don't have NBA TV, although I have ESPN. Unless I can get a free trial somewhere, I'm likely to miss two games of the four games scheduled to be televised.
