I really don’t see how I am being negative by pointing out we don’t know how these young guys will turn out.
Dude, cmon. I understand your skepticism but you’ve been nothing but glass is 99% empty. Instead of phrasing it that way you said “they could all suck.” If you can’t see the negativity, take it from someone who was loathed by skkorp when I first joined the cards board for my realism - your negativity isn’t allowing for the glimmer of upside with the moves the last few days to shine through even a little. It’s okay, you’re entitled. Just busting your chops.

That's true. They could be equally good or equally bad. I think they are reading your posts as saying they will be bad.

I keep wondering why CP3 would come back to a franchise that showed him the door?

I've read he wants to be close to his kids, and feels like he has missed a lot of them growing up. Phoenix, Sac, and GS are about 1.5 hour flights to LA if he can't go to either LA team.

I wasn't sold on Gregory but was overjoyed James Jones was gone. Maybe Ish learned from his mistakes or maybe Gregory was judged too harshly. I don't know how much credit to give the Michigan State alum but I think they both earned some leeway moving forward.
I don't hate James Jones either. He made good moves and bad moves.

So I really like what we’ve done. But this begs the question . . . is this truly “building around Booker?” We’ve acquired a LOT of youth. Some kinda “proven” (green and Williams) but mostly pretty green. Just Brooks seems to be in line with bookers timeline.

Young:
Green (23)
Mark williams (23)
Dunn (2nd year)
Oso (2nd year)
Malauch (rook)
Flemming (rook)
Brea (rook)

Then you’ve got mid-career guys:
Allen
Oneal
Richards
Bol
Martin

Then book and beal

If the young guys work out having a frontline of . . .

Dunn
Flemming
Malauch

. . . is young, long and athletic. And kind of exciting. Add in a high flyer like green and you’re only missing a high end pg to stir the drink.

If these young guys show something but the team is struggling maybe the suns use Booker to find that high end young pg.

I’ll say this, until the young guys prove they aren’t worth anything I’ve had my interest in next year reignited.
Now I don't feel as if my thoughts are far fetched.
This past week has set up a potential foundation in which a majority of core playes are 25 and under 2-3yrs from now.
Ott could very well want to replicate a CLE type roster.
I wouldn't be shocked if the next 2 years consist of moves solely to free cap space, replenish assets, and further roster construction.
All while fielding a team worth having some interest in watching.
I think there will be some internal talks with Book about facilitating a trade during that time.
Even if we have to wait Beal out during this process, I think they've done a damn good job (in a week) of shifting to a viable route for a promising future sooner than expected.

The suns certainly have put forth the effort to turn this around. Time will tell if they made the right moves.

Team should be fun to watch, and they certainly created some excitement. The problem is we are excited about lottery pics again instead of championships.

Ok time to drink the cool aid. Booker will be a all star, Beal stays healthy, center position plays well, Fleming is rookie of the year and Dunn plays over his head. Green makes the all star team and Dillon has a record for the Suns with technicals for the season. 45 wins

Also...

We got the leading scorer on a top playoff team who is 23.

The concerns at player health is legit but we are 4 deep at that position.

We drafted high character kids that I can't wait to cheer for. I despised last year's team to the point it even impacted my opinion of Devin.

You can glass half empty anything if that's your thing
This..... last years team was unlikable. I missed the twins. I want to see a lot of Maluach (needs a nick name asap), Flemming & Dunn. I am hoping Green can be moved for a legit PG. The Suns have only been good when they have an all-star @ Point

Not much has changed really.

We got a guy in Green that has a bad contract and has not really fulfilled his potential.
Mark Williams who has missed 60% of the games he is eligible for and
3 draft picks who all might suck.

It's fun to imagine the best case scenerio - but at this point that's all it is, your imagination.
You don't think the team is in a drastically different position as far as potential than they were a week ago?

I do agree that optimism is a big contribution to the overall outlook, but I also think that the optimism stems from being in a better scenario

Man… and people used to bash me for being overly negative.

But I get it… lots of hopium abound but I’m happy to huff it right now.

I’m actually okay with that. Low expectations. Can be a leader for a young team. Teach them how to be competitive in the nba. Worked with bridges, cam, and Ayton young team.

And mind you, I don’t mean elevate them like the suns took off before. I just mean help the kids become pros.
In a shocking turn of events… I agree!

He’s a floor raiser/general for young guys to learn from. SA took another step this year before Wemby’s injury and I think you’d have to hate CP3 not to give him a little bit of credit there.

There is reason to be optimistic. The front office is showing that they understand what is necessary. That doesn't guarantee that the moves will turn out to be correct, but at least they are philosophically correct.

Phoenix Suns: A-

Rasheer Fleming (31, via Minnesota trade), Koby Brea (41, via Golden State trade)
Phoenix wanted Fleming and made a series of trades through the day Thursday to secure the No. 31 pick from Minnesota, giving them the chance to draft the 6'8" 3&D forward from St. Joseph's. He's athletic, has a 7'5" wingspan, can defend, and shot 39% from 3 this past season. It feels like there's a very good chance he'll play minutes for the Suns next season.

Brea might be the best catch-and-shoot player in this draft, and at 6'5" he has good size to be an NBA wing. However, his defense and pretty much every part of his game other than shooting needs a lot of work. Still, at 41, this is not a bad spot to take a risk.
