It now appears Ace Bailey is fine going to Utah.

D'oh. For his snubbing the team that drafted him, I was ready to enjoy calling him Ass Bailey.

Perhaps he'll get into fights, so I can instead call him Ace Bully.

I seem to be the only person skeptical of this Khaman Maluach. He sounds like a project to me. I shrug. That he was noted as having good character impresses me more.

I don't think so. I think most of us realize the further you go down the draft the more unlikely the odds are of finding a great player. However, the draft isn't about guarantees as much as the potential and having a chance based on what we see right now.

he is a project and almost everyone here has said so. but he's got big upside. both things can be true.
Upside means little. Let him prove himself and then I'll feel impressed.

At least with that second-round shooting specialist who was probably named after Kobe Bryant--what's his surname, Brea?--one knows what one's getting.

That is largely why I quit paying attention to the draft. I finally understood what a total crapshoot most of the draftees are. I think the Suns drafts from circa 2010-2012 did it for me. Failures like Earl Clark and Kendall Marshall.

I forgot: do Ighodaro's skills make him effective only at center? I hear premature mutterings about getting rid of him or Nick Richards. Can Ighodaro not be moved to forward? I thought he was undersized for center anyway.

Ighodaro is a lot like Boris Diaw in skill set. If that helps place some perspective. He needs to learn to shoot otherwise he's a C who can't play inside.

Well, I have been gone from here a long time and I haven't read this entire thread. I know the Suns are being panned for what they gave up, and maybe the gave up too much, but just a few minutes of watching this young center makes me think he has it. He has the size and bulk and plays with a swagger. He kinda reminded me of that swagger that Amare had when we drafted him. He also reminds me a bit of Dikembe. I am sure other have made that comparison.

I might start to pay attention to the Suns a bit more now that Durant is gone. I just could not root for that guy. To me, he seemed to care less about bball than I do.

You'd probably be surprised by the overall positivity of most. It's encouraging to see others like you share the same thoughts most of us have.

Hope to see more of you this season.

I think he will give us some good minutes as a rookie. Sure a big part of it is upside, but he has translatable skills/traits already IMO.

i liked the moms in this draft - we're seeing more and more draftees who grew up playing their moms - not just moms but college athletes- 1000 points a season ballers! the progress of women's basketball has gone full circle - from sophie cunningham going full enforcer to flagg's mom keeping that win loss record intact - that's insane - top pick in the draft never beat his mom once (technically) as the legend goes lol - another fun part was never knowing who was going to cry in the interviews after being drafted - sometimes it was the mom sometimes it was the son - anyways just a little side dressing i enjoyed - i think it's going to be more and more prominent in the future with wnba moms

The Suns suddenly have a legitimate young core surrounding Devin Booker.
Jalen Green (23) Ryan Dunn (22) Mark Williams (23) Khaman Maluach (18) Rasheer Fleming (20) Koby Brea (22) Oso Ighodaro (22}
Impressive work by Phoenix’s front office.
gotta let'em grow together

Welcome back. Many of us share your views. I think the Suns got very close to value in the draft day trades.

At least we have some big men to clog the middle for a change.

Why don't we just go the other way and slam him and say he'll never amount to anything? You do you but don't worry about us who see the possibilities. Of course, time will tell.

Oh, he cared a lot about basketball. Getting buckets. He just didn't care about winning or team basketball or the Phoenix Suns.

Certainly. Why don't you just do that, so this forum can discuss Superbone's opinion that Khaman Maluach will amount to nothing. You do you, but don't worry about us who are skeptical of project centers and never suggested that Maluach will amount to nothing. And us who would rather avoid using cliches like "you do you."

Yes - well actually he isn't really very effective anywhere. But his shooting range is 6 feet from the rim and in. He has no jump shot whatsoever.

you can have the character - character is cool - but i'll take the natural talent and coach-ability that took him to the nba in just 5 short years - i was talking about this the other day but those are my favorite types of trajectories - nobody knows how good this kid will be but he's excelled every step of the way - the year at duke only proves it shooting 71% from the field freshman style - but im not even sweating the offense because i want defense and rebounds more - this kid is already gifted - once he knows where to be i think we gotta double double night in night out - sure doesn't sound like a shruggy project to me but hey you do you
