I would offer a 2nd rounder for Surtain. I wouldn't go higher and who knows if they would take it.
Maybe I am missing something, but how is Denver in a different situation than the Cards?

Seems to me they aren't going to trade a young potential cornerstone piece unless we overpay - more likely they aren't interested in trading him at all.

That could be. Don't have any idea how Payton values Surtain since he didn't draft him.

It's to replace Marquise though, not Wilson.

I'd rather have Sutton for $14m than Marquise for $20m.

Got it.

My point is Wilson is basically the same as Sutton.

Why pay him $14m when you can draft a guy as good/better?

What kind of value do you think he has?

I would be shocked if we could get a 6th for him. Just don't see why anyone would want to trade for a highly paid old TE who is barely capable of running more than 10 yard routes.

That could be. Don't have any idea how Payton values Surtain since he didn't draft him.
Exactly. We don't know what he thinks of his team or the player really. Surtain is really the only player that can get a 1st round pick compensation back his way...

1) Because you have 2-3 WRs on the field at once, so it's good to have multiple good options.

2) Sometimes you draft a WR and he's Justin Jefferson; sometimes he's Michael Floyd. Sometimes he's A.J. Jenkins. You never know if you're going to draft a guy as good/better than someone who has at least proven they're an NFL player.

If this offense wants bigger bodies, especially on the outside, Courtland Sutton at 6'4" might be a schematic upgrade over Hollywood Brown even if the production is roughly similar.

Thanks. Saved me typing.

I don't think they are really the same player either. Just because both are tall (although Sutton has 2 inches on Wilson) doesn't mean they play the same style.

Good points @kerouac9.

For me, I think it all depends on Kyler.

No Kyler - no need for Sutton or guys like that. Those are replacement level players.
One 1k season in a passing league after 5 years?

If we are sticking with Kyler - most likely we will re-sign Hollywood.

I would rather build it through the draft with a strong WR class.

..and both are close to being equally disappointing to their respective teams. Although I'd argue that Sutton is more of a disappointment.

I dunno, man. My brother is a Broncos fan; maybe I'll ask him. Hard for me to put a lot of blame for underproduction on Sutton when he's been dealing with Drew Lock, Teddy Two-Gloves Bridgewater, and DangeRUSS the past three seasons.

I'm here in the Denver area. The fans here are really disappointed in the entire team, but Sutton and Jeudy in particular.

Why so snarky Kerouac?

I've seen some epically bad takes from you that are amongst the worst in the history of ASFN, and yet you continually take shots at me.
Whenever you're feeling the snark is too much, you can always reference this gem!

I'm still proud of that post.

It's crazy how unglued the whole situation became.

Sutton just doesn't play with physicality, intelligence, and precision.

Sutton has all of the gifts to be a top 5 receiver in the league. He just doesn't put it all together...

I would hope any coach would be smart enough to judge a player on his Merrit than act like many business people do by wanting their choices working for them. Been there and seen it first hand many times.

I honestly hope nobody in the league but cardinals' coaching staff to be smart enough. Lol
