Pre-Season Week 1 vs Broncos Post Game Sound Off

Absolutely, because it does mean literally nothing. I'm not going to get into an argument with you, though. I was only pointing out the silliness one time and not specifically to any poster, because they need all the hopium they can get.

We saw better game management. With backups and scrubs, we watched a really well executed 2 minute drill.

It seemed like the guys were playing really hard. Froholdt legitimately looked real good, crushing opponents. It was a lot more positive than negative.

This game doesn't change the calculus for how I view the team overall, but it does show that some progress is being made.

I would love for Froholdt to be a solid starting C for the Cardinals ala Sendlein. Would be a great feather in the cap for Monti and Gannon. Would be very happy if they proved me wrong there.

I would probably give Petzing credit since he likely gave the Intel on Froholdt. These type of signings can be a boon since the Cardinals locked him in for two years.

You have to start somewhere. This team is seeing it's first action after undergoing a complete gut job in the offseason. This was our first opportunity to see a lot of the young players brought in by a Rookie GM. It was the first opportunity to see a Rookie HC, Rookie OC and Rookie DC call plays and manage a game. So I take the Preseason week 1 as a starting baseline to judge this young team.

Preseason week 1 the coaching staff looked competent.

The team as a hole looked prepared and didn't make a ton of mental errors that we have seen in the past.

Several of the young rookies won their one on one battles and showed a bunch of promise.

Several of the FAs brought in by Monti also looked solid.


So now we look to Preseason week 2 against the defending SB champs. This obviously will be a much bigger test for the young Cardinals team. What I'm looking for here is a team that continues to play disciplined. The Defensive front 6-7 looked a lot better than I expected against the Broncos. Can they continue to play smart and maintain gap integrity against an elite OL? I'd like to see a bunch of improvement with the second string OL as the OL depth seems suspect. I'd like to see one of the young RBs step up and claim the #2 RB spot.

By the end of last, heck most of last season, the Cardinals were an absolute embarrassment.

Kliff lost the team and pile on injuries, and guys were just mostly going through the motions.

At least last Friday, it looked like the players cared. Is that going to hold when the losses start mounting? Who knows.

Things are changing, that's true, but we've yet to see the new group face adversity, which is surely on it's way, and the results will be telling.

I'm a big believer in this statement. A good plan isn't really going to work, but a good plan also plans for contingencies. How does this relate to football? Look at the overall discipline that you see on the field.

Yep. I didn't see Sendlein flatten one lineman in all of my time watching him. Granted I'll admit that I was probably wearing some hate glasses.
