This is the most trade activity I remember before a draft. Generally this stuff happens draft day or later. I can't help but think it speaks to the parity in this draft. Lots of teams trying to shuffle around in the 1st round.

Id rather send NY Bender since they love tall gawky white guys out there.

I keep trying to figure out what the hell they would do with Millsap too. You have Chriss AND Bender- two youngsters who need playing time. If they got him, at least one of the youngsters would have to go.

I don't see the Suns adding Millsap unless they trade Bender or Chriss.

It doesn't make any sense for the Suns to add Millsap. I think he's one of those players like Rudy Gay or Kevin Love who gets rumored to be coming to Phoenix anytime they're mentioned in trade rumors.

What I think is interesting is how there are reports that come out by trusted sources, like David Aldridge for example, and then they're immediately shot down by someone like Zach Lowe. When that happens it makes you wonder how much of anything that is being floated around is true. Woj is the only "insider" that doesn't throw out a potential blockbuster trade every other hour and is reporting on deals that don't involve All Star players.

Wojnarowski is solid. I think during this pre-draft there are more moving parts than any other draft I can remember. Things are actually happening. I think other reporters are only getting bits of information thus the inaccuracy. For some reason, this draft has made a number of teams want to get into the action. It's fun. Teams are in the mood to trade. Lots of talking.

ATL is blowing it up apparently. They got practically nothing for Howard other than shedding his contract which wasn't bad with only 2 years left. Howard's career has spiraled downward since his departure from ORL. Guess he thought he was going to be the next Shaquille.

They weren't even really able to shed his contract, so to speak. That Miles Plumlee contract might be worse when you consider it goes a year longer.

They didn't even make a real salary dump trade with Howard since they brought back Belinelli and Plumlee's contracts, both are awful and Plumlee's is longer. Plumlee is still owed 37 million over the next 3 years and Belinelli is owed 6.7 million next year. Howard is owed 47 over the next 2 years. So the total amount of the salaries owed to the players involved are pretty equal. In 2018 the Hawks will only being playing Plumlee half of what Dwight was due and Belinelli will be off the books but Plumlee is a 12th man, at best, while Dwight is at least an above average center still. The Hawks will owe Plumlee 13 million in 2019 but had they kept Dwight he would have expired by that point. They got some payroll relief next offseason but that's it. I think they lost that trade by a large margin, Charlotte got the best player (Howard), dumped the worst contract (Plumlee), and got the best draft pick (31st overall). Atlanta would have been better off waiving Dwight and using the stretch provision. It was only 3 seasons ago that Atlanta won 60 games, was the #1 seed in the East, and had 4 All Stars selected from their team. Now they're in a total tailspin.
