Well, folks who love NBA drama won't have to wait long to see a highly anticipated matchup between scorned exes — at least the Diet Coke version. The Philadelphia 76ers will play the Boston Celtics twice in their 2026-27 preseason schedule.

The Sixers will travel to face the Celtics at TD Garden on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EST. Philadelphia will then host Boston on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. EST.

Of course, the Sixers and Celtics co-headlined one of the biggest moves this NBA offseason. Jaylen Brown was shockingly traded to the divisional rival in exchange for Paul George, two future first-round picks and two future second-round picks.

As one of the centerpieces of their epic rivalry, Brown will switch sides. He spent 10 seasons on the Celtics from 2016-26. During that time, he was a one-time NBA champion, NBA Finals MVP, five-time All-Star and finished in sixth place in MVP voting this past season.

How Brown fits with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey will be one of the bigger season-long storylines to follow this upcoming season. Just a couple of months ago, the Sixers booted the Celtics out of the 2026 NBA playoffs with a 3-1 series comeback in their Round 1 matchup.

While it'll be exciting to see Brown and his team in the same building, don't expect any real fireworks in their two preseason matchups. Instead, we'll have to wait for their four regular-season games to see the Celtics and Sixers truly fight it out. Expect the NBA to release its 2026-27 regular season in August.
