I knew he wouldnt be our DC!!! Why would he...terrible D & questionable personel to execute a successful 3-4 D. Chances are we will not get a viable DC to make us much better at this point

I'm still hoping Keith Butler ends up being the guy here. I know it's unlikely, given the rumored contract he has, but if it can work out somehow, it'd be a good fit.

If there are really that much in the way, I think that Whiz would be making a strong push at this point. There has to be something in Butlers contract that will allow him to get out of it.

We can't even interview him until the Steelers are out of the playoffs.

Kent S. said that Manuskey to SD was based as much on the Chargers having Rivers as QB, as on their Defensive personnel. In SF he saw that having a good D does not guarantee winning if you don't have a good QB.

ok so we can say that alex smith wont be a good choice here..and maybe is not possible even acquire orton and kolb.so the only chance about a veteran here will be bulger...but he doesnt play good football since 2006...so just the draft will give us a chance to get a good quarterback????

I realize that, what I meant is that if Whiz did not think there was a chance to get him, he would be interviewing a lot more potential DC's at this time.

Has more to do with the potential HC position that will inevitably open when Norv is fired next offseason, than team personnel. Little to no chance Whis is going anywhere in the next year or two and Manusky is looking for a head job.

Tomorrow's news to you today: ARIZONA CARDINALS WELCOME BACK NEW DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR TERYL AUSTIN

A guy whom we liked less than the guy we just fired will be our new defensive coordinator.

Wager? I refuse to believe it, but it would be very Cardinal-esque.

I think Somers's point was spot on, why would a D-Cord have their hard work wasted by a crap QB? The D in AZ would have to hold opponents to 6 pts a game to have a chance to win consitently with the QB situation we currently have.

I see what you are saying, but I think it is a cop out.
