Besides, these guys want to join contenders, and only the biggest Suns homer could consider the Suns a top-five team right now. They may get better, but these new free agents need to make a decision now, not in two weeks.
I have a feeling that Lue is going to sign with Dallas. That's bad news for just about everyone in the west. Dallas is a very talented team, their problem is that they struggle the instant Kidd goes out of the game. Lue could really help fix that problem by providing a very good stop gap for when Kidd is on the bench. Looks like the Arms race just keeps on rolling, but Dallas seems to be the front runner in this one.

Because DA told the whole world what we'd do with our bench players like Jalen Rose or Jumaine Jones. Why would anybody volunarily want to experience what Jalen went through?
Jalen isn't in the league anymore, and part of that could be because of the way it ended here.Is Jalen Rose or Jumaine Rose getting regular playing time anywhere else? I think this answers the question why D'Antoni saw fit not to play them. I'm not sure even if Rose is still in the league or the status of Jumaine Jones.
He was a veteran player who had a lot of big game experience, and he still had a little left in the tank.
FYI, the Lakers are GOOD. REALLY GOOD. Better than SAS IMO.
Remember when Phoenix was desirable place for these waiver wire players to come?
Then D'Antoni thought it would be a good idea to get Jalen Rose and sit him next to Pike, Marks, and Ju. Jones. Now there aren't many of these players who probably would consider signing w/ Phoenix seriously.
Grant Hill will always be the exception, but he was pretty much offered a starting role, and a lot of playing time. And he was a FA, not a buy out. DA has never thought it was important to use a deeper rotation, and now he is paying the price with not being able to get quality help from waiver the wire.
If you take a team that is already quite good and add an All-Star big man for nothing, you'd darn well better get a great team. At this point the Lakers really should be embarrassed if they don't win it all.
Well, like I said, Grant Hill will always be the exception.IMO, Grant Hill and Giricek are not chopped liver as FA's. However, the bigger issue for me is why the Suns have never forcefully addressed getting a backup PG for Steve Nash (I do not include Banks as a PG). Phoenix should never have left such an important issue to mulling over the waiver wire. I'm so desperate about the Suns lacking a backup PG that I'd like the Suns to explore if Gary Payton could give Nash some rest. Are there any other PG's floating out there?
Well, like I said, Grant Hill will always be the exception.
As for Giricek, I just don't think he's good at all. I've never been a fan of his. My cousin, who is a Jazz fan, hated the guy with a passion when he played for the Jazz. I always had angry texts from him about Giricek. Now he sends me texts all the time making fun of the Suns for wanting him.
I agree about the back up PG though. Looking back, the bad fortunes in terms of player movement came soon after BC left to Toronto. DA the GM was terrible. It started with the Suns trying to sign Tim Thomas for cheap, then turning around and spending that money on Marcus Banks after TT left for Clipperland. I think they could really use a guy like John Salmons too, who commited, then de-commited to sign with the Kings. He's the kind of player who can play multiple positions which are players the Suns drool over.
Yeah, but he also got Amare at #9 in the 02 draft. In regard to Giricek, I've always liked his talent but I don't lay claim that I know or like his personality. Anyway, the Suns desperately need another shooter so why not add him. It's not like there are better options out there. I certainly think he has the ability to get playing time in Phoenix.
I would like to lay all the GM woes on DA and Kerr, however, wasn't BC still in Phoenix when the Suns traded out of the 7th draft slot (or 9th?) and left Iggy and Deung on the board. I do think the Sarver era has marked a gradual decline for the Suns in regard to personnel moves. BC knew what he was doing when he flew the coop.
Yeah, but he also got Amare at #9 in the 02 draft.
Every GM makes mistakes, but the good thing about BC was that he was good at nullifying them. Signed Marbury to a huge deal, then dealt him for cap room that gave us the Nash era. Signed Q to a huge deal, then traded him away for a big that helped more than Q would have, and has less time on his deal. Also, he brought in Raja. I just thought he had a better eye for talent than DA. I can't really judge Kerr yet. He's too new, but the Shaq move may define his career.
Mike D'Antoni has put his ego and lifeling dedication to one style of ball, regardless of the roster, ahead of the needs of the team.Remember when Phoenix was desirable place for these waiver wire players to come?
