There was a commericial in the last few years, where two guys were debating why the BLT is not a BBLT for Bread Bacon Lettuce Tomato. Interesting.

Wasn't that a Wendy's commercial?

Might have been a cell phone commericial. They worked at a power plant. Sprint?

You're right. They had hard hats on, with their red lunchboxes, etc.

I've always wondered why mayo (or miracle whip, whichever your preference) gets no respect in the name. I can't imagine a BLT without one of the two...BLMT?

I don't think condiments get name recognition.

Me too.

The sandwich is immortalized as 'BLT' because of its simplicity. Put any other stuff in and it's just another sandwich. It's no longer a BLT if you add turkey, or ham, or swiss -- same with avocado. Then it's just a weird veggicado with bacon.

I will concede that it's a different sandwich, and no longer deserves the simplistic, beautiful name BLT, or any variation thereof (although Black Bear Diner does serve a BLAST...I just can't remember what the S is in it). It's still yummy, though.

edit: looked it up...it's for Swiss Cheese. I ordered it sans Swiss.

So Cal
Condiments do not receive acronym recognition, and either does the bread simply because it is a sandwich so it is a given...

You *can* however put sprouts or a couple of slices of avacado.

No, you may not.

It is a BLT, not a BLAST.

Do not mess with the BLT. Throw your junk on a Club...that's what it's meant for, the Hungry Man version of the BLT.

Crave, located near Van Buren and 5th Street, serves a BrieLT, which is Brie, Lettuce and Tomato with vinaigrette on a baguette. Delicious.

How is it that I worked so close to this place & never experienced this goodness while down there?

How is it you & I worked so close together & never bothered to grab lunch?

Sounds like a sandwich that should cost 2 dollars, but costs 8.

Agreed. Let's argue the commercial..... should the bread be included? Should it be a BMBLT?
