Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto spoke about his approach to his start after beating the Toronto Blue Jays once again.

Yamamoto pitched six innings against the Blue Jays on Tuesday, allowing one run and striking out six batters on his way to a second win this season. Incidentally, Yamamoto had the exact same line when he started against Toronto in Game 6 of the World Series.

“I’m just gonna keep doing what I’ve been doing,” Yamamoto said. “And then I’m gonna just take one outing at a time, and then I believe that’s going to get me better.”

Yamamoto dominated the Blue Jays in the 2025 World Series, making three appearances on the mound and holding them to just three runs through 17.2 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts as he won World Series MVP.

How Has Yoshinobu Yamamoto Pitched This Season?

Tuesday marked Yamamoto’s third start of the season, and he’s been off to a good start so far in 2026.

He’s pitched 18 innings across his three starts so far, posting a 2.50 ERA and striking out 14 batters in the process. His WHIP sits at 0.89 after his outing yesterday, which would be the best of his career if he maintains that mark.

Yamamoto had similar stats to these in 2025, posting a 2.49 ERA through 30 starts with just a 0.99 WHIP. He also eclipsed 200 strikeouts for the first time in his career during the final start of his season, finishing the year at 201.

When Will Yoshinobu Yamamoto Pitch Next?

The Dodgers haven’t announced when Yamamoto will pitch next, but it certainly won’t be in their next series against the Texas Rangers.

LA returns to Dodger Stadium on Friday for a three-game series against an AL West opponent, and have already announced their starters for the set. Tyler Glasnow will start the first game, followed by Emmet Sheehan in the second game and Roki Sasaki will close the series on the mound.

Yamamoto will most likely make his next appearance against the New York Mets in the following series, which also takes place at Dodger Stadium.
