NEW YORK – Jasson Dominguez says he is available off the bench for tonight's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Earlier Tuesday, the Yankees' switch-hitting outfielder had an infected tooth extracted; it was related to the root canal Dominguez underwent late last season.

According to Dominguez, the tooth was “a little sensitive’’ this past weekend at Toronto, but the pain had increased by Monday.

So, Jose Caballero gets tonight’s start in right field, and his at-bats will be something to watch.

After drawing a controversial umpires’ warning for delay tactics related to his pitch clock engagements, Caballero said he’ll seek clarity with plate umpire Mike Muchlinski before his first at-bat.

Caballero says he still wants clarity as to “the actual rule,’’ while insisting he’s within his rights to wait until the eight-second mark to look up and engage the pitcher.

Yanks manager Aaron Boone had a lengthy conversation with league officials Monday night and was told that the big thing is “making sure he’s alert as opposed to looking up. And not stepping out of the box,’’ allowing the umpire a better handle on the situation.

It's Yanks' ace Gerrit Cole vs. top-notch White Sox starter Davis Martin on a beautiful night at Yankee Stadium. Join us for live coverage here...
