TORONTO – It’s a beautiful Friday night weather-wise, with the roof open at Rogers Centre.
But it’s hard to forget what nightmare this place was for the Yankees in 2025, losing eight of nine games against the Blue Jays here, including two in October.
“Obviously last year was rough in this building for us, but it’s a new year and a new opportunity,’’ said Yanks manager Aaron Boone, prior to the opener of a three-game set against the defending AL champs.
Boone’s club is tied atop the AL East with the Rays, and nine games ahead of the Blue Jays, who get Alejandro Kirk (thumb fracture) back in the lineup tonight.
“Still a very good team over there and we’ve got to continue to play well,’’ said Boone, who sends Ryan Weathers to the mound, opposing the dynamic Trey Yesavage.
