NEW YORK - These 2026 Yankees have already had a three-game sample of Life Without Aaron Judge in their lineup and now comes the really challenging part.

Judge was officially placed on the injured list Friday due to a stress fracture of his first right rib.

Though the reigning AL MVP is expected to return this season (he'll be re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks), it's anyone's guess as to when the Yanks' captain will be ready to join the lineup again.

Spencer Jones in Yankees lineup today

Lefty-hitting slugger Spencer Jones was called up before Friday's 7:05 p.m. game against the Boston Red Sox, replacing one 6-foot-7 outfielder with another.

But as manager Aaron Boone plainly stated Thursday, "you're not replacing Aaron Judge.''

Yankees vs Red Sox probable pitchers

Lefty Ryan Weathers (2-3, 3.52 ERA) is going against the Red Sox and former Yankee righty Sonny Gray (6-1, 3.06 ERA) on Friday night.
