NEW YORK - It's been over a week since the Yankees had a breakout offensive day, and the lineup went into a complete stall during a long, lost weekend at Fenway Park.

They were no-hit into the sixth inning on Friday, no-hit into the fifth inning on Saturday, and Sonny Gray took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in last night's eventual, 10-inning, 5-4 Red Sox's win - completing a four-game sweep by last place Boston, knocking the Yankees out of first in the AL East.

On Monday night, the Yanks - having lost seven of their last nine games - are back home against the Detroit Tigers to open a six-game homestand.

Last week at Detroit, the Yanks took two out of three games, each decided by two-or-fewer runs.

Tonight, it's lefty Ryan Weathers (3-5, 3.95) against Detroit righty Casey Mize (2-5, 2.95), who took the loss against the Yanks last Tuesday - yielding four runs in 5.2 innings in a 4-3 Yanks' win.

That's the game where Jazz Chisholm Jr., a day after his "lollipop controversy'' (he played second base with a lollipop in his mouth for a few innings, drawing the ire of manager Aaron Boone) hit a big, go-ahead two-run homer off Mize.

Weathers got the win at Detroit last Wednesday, outdueling ace Tarik Skubal by yielding one earned run over six innings in a 4-2 victory.

Before the game, the Yanks called up right-handed reliever Jake Bird and placed closer David Bednar on the paternity list.
