Yeah, wasn't that the movie that launched Chris Tucker's career of Rush Hour movies?

Alan ******* Not in X-Men 3
Source: French Joker, Curtis
June 20, 2005

Alan ******* has announced on his official website that he will not be returning as Nightcrawler in 20th Century Fox's X-Men 3:

EX X MAN!! Alan will NOT be appearing in X3. Fox has not picked up his option to play Nightcrawler for a second movie.

The third installment starts filming in August for a May 26, 2006 release date. The rest of the original returning stars are expected to return, and the cast is bolstered by Kelsey Grammer as Beast, Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut and Lost star Maggie Grace as Kitty Pryde (aka Shadowcat).

Does this mean Nightcrawler will not be in the film, or that someone else will be playing him?

It's a shame. He was pretty good.

Ben Foster to Play Angel in X-Men 3
Source: Variety
July 18, 2005

Ben Foster (Six Feet Under) will play the mutant Archangel (aka Angel) in 20th Century Fox's X-Men 3, reports Variety.

In the comics, carefree millionaire Warren Worthington III was the high-flying, heroic Angel. But Warren's world came crashing down when dark forces conspired to clip his wings. Recovered from his brush with evil, Archangel again soars the skies alongside the uncanny X-Men.

The actor joins fellow "X-Men" newcomers Kelsey Grammer and Vinnie Jones in the second sequel, which reteams Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen and Ian McKellen. Brett Ratner is directing the third installment, scheduled to hit theaters on May 26, 2006.

Foster's recent films include Hostage and The Punisher.

What an odd choice. Seems like Hollywood is full of actors that are much more "angelic" than Foster.

New X-Men 3 Casting and Updates
Source: Superhero Hype!
August 7, 2005

CamFans.org reports that Cameron Bright ("Godsend," "Birth") will star as Leech in X-Men 3:

Just to let you know that it is official as of today.....Cam booked the role of Leech in the next X-men movie. The script is hush hush so I cant say much more as that is all I know. He will be shaved bald though and he is looking forward to that.

Halifax's The Coast talked to Ellen Page about landing the role of Kitty Pryde in the third film. Here's a clip:

"It's just so huge," she says. "It just blows my mind. I'm so used to doing tough, intense material in like 18 days or 24 days, for not much money. It’s truly the complete opposite of anything I've ever done."

XMenFilms.net is also reporting that the X-Men 3 production might film in Washington, DC.:

Sources tell XMF that X-Men 3 might be lense in Washington, DC possibly near a major monument! We have no information on what type of shoot this may be, first or second unit, but we do know that producers have already been in touch with the District of Columbia Film Office.

Three More for X3
Source: IGN FilmForce
August 15, 2005

IGN FilmForce has passed on this scoop about three more additions to X-Men 3, the third chapter in the series based on Marvel Comics' popular superteam, currently under production with Brett Ratner at the helm.

Professor X's old love interest, Dr. Moira McTaggert, who runs the Mutant Research Center on Muir Island, Scotland, will be played by British actress Olivia Williams, who has appeared in films like Below, The Sixth Sense and Peter Pan.

FilmForce also confirms that Bill Duke of Predator will be playing a politician on the President's cabinet, not a scientist as previously reported, and that Michael Murphy, who had the title role in Robert Altman's Tanner '88, will play the Angel's father, Warren Worthington, Sr.

X-Men 3 Gets Aghdashloo
Source: IGN
August 17, 2005

IGN has been on a roll this week with their news about the expanded cast for X-Men 3. "Stax" has informed us that the latest confirmed actor for the three-quel is Iranian actress Shohreh Aghdashloo, who was nominated for an Oscar as a supporting actress for the 2003 drama House of Sand and Fog.

Aghdashloo will be playing Doctor Kavita Rao, who was introduced in Joss Whedon's recent run on "Astonishing X-Men" as a geneticist that created a serum called Hope to try to rid mutants of their mutations, essentially "curing" them. The controversial serum created waves within the X-Men, particularly with Hank McCoy AKA The Beast, who will be played by Kelsey Grammer in the upcoming film.
