Buc maybe to IR? :bang: Or did they have 52 on the roster looking to add a player & it didn't materialize?
Let's hope not.

I wonder what happened to cause this?
if twitter is right, it was just to not pay his full salary guaranteed all year and that he will be signed back next week.

but if so, why was he on the roster right now anyway?

Team felt Wheeler may be signed by someone else, so they waited to cut him today and intend to bring him back next week at an un-guaranteed salary.

Why risk it if you want him. Plus if you intend to keep him, why not have him around for a week of practice and then cut him.

They say he can play ILB OLB
In this system is just an inside guy
His numbers as pass rusher are bad
His flexibility to be consistent in special team at his age is doubtful

Heard he also is injured alot and they didn't want to risk paying him the full guaranteed money if he is sitting on the bench most of the year.

It's amazing watching y'all get salty over a guy who is going to get resigned for non-guarantee money getting cut. Someone who really hasn't been anything but depth in the NFL ever. And salty over a guy taking his place who may have the best work ethic in football.

Look, we all know Scooby is slow as hell in pass coverage, but he also has shown good gap discipline and explosiveness in the run game and plays special teams very well.

Come on guys, this is some real training camp level salt.

Two reasons:

1. Injury prone

2. He is at the bottom of the roster, in that "churning" zone.

Don't want a to guarantee money when you do not need to, it is still a business after all.

Cards like Wheeler for his versatility (he gives us a 5th ILB and a 4th OLB).

I'm guessing that the Cards wanted more ST oomph and valued it more than the versatility in this particular game. Scooby gives them that.

Maybe this week in practice they realized they were missing something on coverage units and decided Wright might be the guy?
