Let me just throw this out there if anyone still takes me serious.
How many hits in the head do you think Hightower took today?.....
Knees, helmets, ground? Do you think any of them were as bad as Warners?
Honestly!! ..... I mean he goes head first with everything he has on almost every play.

Running backs do not have concussions, if they did they would be pulled out of the game. Once you suffer a concussion you are more likely to suffer from them. The odds increase quite dramatically.

I don't know if anyone has heard Merril Hoge talk about his experience with concussions. He suffered many in his career and in his final game he literally died in the locker room after suffering from a concussion earlier in the game. Once he was resuscitated he didn't fully recover for 2 years. He couldn't even go around the block without getting lost.

There is a reason the NFL is getting hard on treating concussions. As I said earlier, I would rather lose every game than have any player die because of a concussion. This is life and death we are talking about, not some game.

By the way here is an article about Merril Hoge:

I dont disagree with Merril Hoges story, but did you say, " RB's dont have concussions."???

I meant that the running backs who are playing don't have them right now. If they did they would be on the sideline. I'm not saying they don't get them.

Brian Westbrook is likely done for the year due to a series of concussions.

The NFL will treat concussions more seriously from here on out. A player gets one and he's gonna sit.
Make the mental adjustment now, it's going to be the new law.

You dont "play through" concussions. You should have stopped at your apology and left it at that.

Looks like Hines Ward agrees with me on this one guys.
Check out Yahoo Home page, Theres an article "Hines Ward cares not for Bens brain". Basically he says Ben practiced all week and they needed him for the win and that he (Ward) has played thru concussions before and lied to doctors to do so.
So maybe hes classless too?????????????

I guess 50% of the Steelers are classless and stupid!
Yep.

I'd be curious to know how split the medical profession is on this. (hint, I'm being a little sarcastic: I'm not that curious -- you'd be hard-pressed to find a doctor that thinks someone should go out and play football while showing symptoms like blurred vision).

Warner isn't the type to do this, not play with something so serious, all he's done would be for nothing if he's not around to enjoy what he's worked so hard for.

Players suffer from terminal cases of macho behvior which works right up until you're Lyle Alzado dying.

It's up to each player to come to terms with how much they want to risk I guess but the league isn't going to let them claim they weren't warned.

Just because Hines Ward thinks you should play means you should. I would imagine most players would want to go out there and play if they had a concussion. There is a reason they aren't doctors. When my car breaks down I'm not asking Hines Ward how to fix it, I'll go to a mechanic. These players don't know much about medical issues that surround the brain.

If you want to take a players opinion about concussions don't look outside of our locker room. Sean Morey is one of the most vocal players out there about concussions. He played with one and regretted it right away. Here is an article talking about it. The most important quote in the article:
"You can't continue to downplay or lie about symptoms. You can't ignore the risk of concussions."

Concussions are the real world. You wouldn't go and play when you tear your ACL. You can live without one of those, you can't live without a brain. So why would you want to send someone out on the field when his brain is hurt?

The medical knowledge of concussions and their long term effects is literally being revised as we discuss it. Basically, they are being viewed as much more serious an injury than previously thought.
