Assuming the Niners use the non-exclusive Franchise Tag on Jimmy G. ( They are going to have a top 10 pick and can get another 1st, this year if someone else signs him, which is more than enough to replace him with a rookie )...

Would you rather...

A) Sign Jimmy G, to what would be a Cousins like contract and give up the 2 first round picks, or

B) Give up whatever it takes to move into Top 5 of this year's draft for a rookie QB, or

C) Sign Cousins to a huge contract...?

A) If I was to spend that money, I would take cousins as the known commodity and keep my draft picks.

B) It seems we can get a pretty good quarterback without trading up that high. It depends on who the brass wants. If we can get a good starter without losing all of our draft capital, that is the preference.

C) I'm not sure we can even afford this type of contract right now.

C. Not only would we have a known commodity, but would also get to use all of our picks to surround him with talent. Pretty good chance we could also move down in the draft and accumulate more picks from another team trying to move up to get a QB.

C. Jimmy G has proven less than Cousins in my mind and I’m not about to hand my division rivals two first round picks.

B would make me shut off the rest of the draft.

Move up to around 10 for Gosh Alien or Baker Mayfly if still in play, giving up a 2nd and 3/4 next year, with one of them being next year. Or wait to 15 and simply take Rudolph the Red Nose QB if he looks good enough in the remaining trials.

B. Draft Baker Mayfield and start him day one. He will be as good as anyone we could get in free agency by the end of the season and we don't have to pay squat for a QB for four years. We use that money to build the rest of the team for multiple Super Bowl runs.

Take best OL/QB then trade back into 1st and take whatever you passed on initially. It might cost you three other picks, but it could be worth it if it brings two sure fire starters at key positions in the next year.

This isn’t personally against you, but what’s with the lack of patience in the draft this year for a lot of posters? Why the sudden need to panic and throw away our future draft capital for just a player or two?

I’d say being patient and standing pat last draft which caused them to miss out on Mahomes and Watson is why everyone has itchy trigger fingers this year.

Except no one wanted to pick them last year... "Wait for next year," was the narrative until Mahomes looked like the real deal in preseason, and Watson was killing it midseason.

I wasn't posting as actively, but there was plenty of that sentiment, and I was definitely trying to say we should draft a guy, when no one else wanted to.

Believe SK had this QB-heavy draft circled on his long-term planning calendar as the year the Cards go for a 1st round QB. Problem is plenty of other teams appear to have the same notion.

How else to explain Cleveland's pass last year in the first round? They went for the draft choices in this year's draft. Cleveland should take two QBs using their 1st and 4th pick. Sort 'em out in training camp and preseason, keep both with one as the backup---or trade the one they don't want for a basket of future picks from a team like the Cards, Jets, etc. They could stock the roster with their 3 2nd round picks in this draft and still have a great draft.

Drug used by veterinarians to sedate an animal prior to a surgical procedure. Abused by humans getting a PCP-like high and hallucinogenic experience. At one time, was considered a possible treatment for depression. Some of the biochemical background:

Thanks Gimmee, I grew up on a farm and have never heard of the stuff as we only had cattle. We just hauled them off to the OKC stockyard. :gun:

I'll color within the lines and take option (A). Of course, I think Jimmy G (guy already got a nickname) is exactly where he wants to be and the 49ers can't believe their luck in getting a QB who sure looks like their next franchise QB for a second round pick. No way he either leaves on his own or SF doesn't sign him to a big deal---he may get more then Cousins (you heard it here first).

Nasty stuff in rural Missouri. Another marvel of modern science that people use to fry their brains in pursuit of a high.

I was on the Mahomes bandwagon predraft last year. He is the guy I wanted us to draft.
