wireless router question

my daughter just got a brand new dell computer, we have existing cox high speed in our family computer.the fam computer is 5 years old and we run windows mill. my question is.will a wireless router work? the 2 computers are about 55ft from eachother.if this does work will the family computer loose any speed from the net. if anybody has any ideas or advice it would be much appreciated.

No you won't lose any speed. Even the slowest Wireless access point (11 Mbps) is faster than the HS Internet (4 Mbps).

The distance should be fine but the signal could be affected based on any interference in your house.


If you get one you should turn on WEP and change the default admin password.
