WICKSBURG, Ala. (WDHN)—Panthers star player Ellie Cox is going back home with a hefty check after being awarded the Rhonda Kirk Softball Family Scholarship.
This scholarship was created in 2018 and first awarded in 2019, after Westgate Complex supervisor Rhonda Kirk got together with a group of friends and decided to award a scholarship to one senior softball player from the Wiregrass.
But not just to any senior player, but one who is planning on going off to college, whether that’s to continue their playing career or further their education.
For the past couple of years, the scholarship was split between two winners, each receiving a $2,500 check, but this time around, Cox was the sole recipient of the $5,000 scholarship.
