In an NBA offseason full of roster moves, LeBron James is next, The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is, effectively, a free agent. On the most recent episode of the Zach Lowe Show, The Ringer's Rob Mahoney brought up what it would look like if James chose to spend his 24th season in Indianapolis with the Pacers -- even while acknowledging it's unlikely to happen.
"If you want to slot LeBron into the Aaron Nesmith role for the Indiana Pacers, that's a team that really speaks to me," Mahoney said.
They then took some time to identify how Indiana's roster construction offers a unique opportunity for James to play alongside multiple playmakers with Tyrese Haliburton set to return from injury.
"Forget the Draymond (Green) role, supercharged late-stage Magic Johnson version of himself and a version that has Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam, and Ivica Zubac; who we've barely seen with the Pacers," Mahoney continued. "Man, that would be super exciting."

The other team mentioned that would be a fun landing spot for James is Minnesota. After recently trading for LaMelo Ball, the Timberwolves could offer a unique opportunity to play alongside a young, dynamic backcourt.
At the moment, Golden State appears to be the preferred destination. However, expect many organizations across the league to put a pitch together for James through the early parts of free agency.
