Why?

The very simple answer is because the production on the field merits that ranking.

The slightly more complex answer is that the output of the unit is higher than the sum of the individual parts.

There is only one really good player on the OL in PJJ IMO. Froholdt and Hernandez had really good outputs, because they are great fits for Petzing's gap and pulling scheme. While Froholdt is one of my absolute favorite players on the team, I doubt he would be this good (Pro-bowl considaration level) on the majority of the NFL teams.

Oh but I thought the oline was our biggest remaining issue according to those who take the pessimistic angle on this season. People have been complaining on here for weeks that it not only crumbled late last year but will be worse this season.

So it is just a nitpick because our defense added so much and negative nancys gotta find a new reason why we will fail.

It is the biggest concern without a doubt.

Why? Jonah Williams is injured. beachum is a year older. Hernandez is not on the team. Adams didn’t show he was a good NFL starter.

And the is based on status quo. Wouldn’t it be nice to improve

Damn, you have taken over this forum.
it's the off-off-season tho and this place is slower than skattebo

25 is experimenting with content and interaction here - he comes in hot with both while swearing his kool-aid is 100 proof which is funny to us because we know such a drink does not exist but he has a couple few months before we get going

im anticipating some lengthy pre and post game write ups from 25 this season - the feedback he receives now may be crucial to his development - he's already changed in some aspects but i get it - he's hyped about the season and found a place to write about it

most of us are pretty hyped...I see potential for a very exciting season.
Maybe even positive feedback when wearing a jersey in public for a change.

I’m not sure that top 15 is very significant. Being barely in the top half is, also, almost in the bottom half.

I think everyone has had their fill of barely and almost.

To the OP: offensive line play is the hardest to measure objectively. It's five (sometimes six) people working together, along with a QB operating independently (and sometimes an RB also). These ratings are content for the offseason. Are they predictive? Do they mean anything? Maybe, but probably not.

PFF ratings and grades are hokum, and pretty much every NFL player, coach, and front office type will tell you. Block win rates are a bit of a black box, but, really, if Paris Johnson Jr. blocks a DE but a looping stunt from a linebacker results in a pressure or sack, what does it matter?

DVOA used to track "blown blocks" which I liked -- it's a more important and trackable metric.
