No matter how Narcisse Ngoy plays for Auburn next season, his NBA fate is decided. That's because Ngoy has already been selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 57th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
It's an unprecedented situation, as Ngoy will be the first NBA draftee to play collegiately in 2026-27. Ngoy, a 7-foot center from France, committed to Auburn in March while never declaring or entering the draft process. Clearly that didn't stop the Clippers from pursuing him.
Hours after the draft, though, Ngoy revealed his plans to follow through on the Auburn commitment.
"I am thankful for the LA Clippers' confidence in me," Ngoy wrote in an Instagram Story. "I fully intend to honor my commitment to Auburn University. And I am looking forward to wearing the Auburn Tigers jersey."
Let's get into what we know about Ngoy and this wild situation.
Ngoy has been playing professionally in France since he was 17 and recently won MVP of the French Elite 2 league. He averaged 10.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks this past season.
Ngoy was automatically eligible for the draft because he's turning 22 before next season, per recent NCAA rule changes. He indicated in his statement that following through on his Auburn commitment is important to him, and it'll also give him an opportunity to develop his skills in a lower-pressure environment than the NBA.
No, he cannot.
Presumably before the 2027-28 season.
