Bryson DeChambeau has been involved in numerous controversial moments throughout his career.
DeChambeau has a huge following of loyal fans, but it’s fair to say that he has plenty of detractors as well.
Back in 2021 at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational – a World Golf Championships event at the time, the 32-year-old was in the final group alongside Harris English after posting rounds of 65, 66 and 63.
However, Bryson DeChambeau collapsed on the back nine at the FedEx St. Jude as the winds got up and he and English were put on the clock for slow play.
The now LIV Golf star carded a back nine score of six-over par 41 and ended up shooting a 74 to fall four shots behind the eventual winner, Abraham Ancer.

The two-time major champion made a quadruple bogey on the par-three 11th hole and his chances of winning the tournament were dashed immediately.
However, it was the abuse he was receiving from fans throughout the week in Memphis which proved to be his most challenging obstacle.

The 32-year-old has been involved in numerous feuds with his fellow players throughout his time in the game.
DeChambeau’s fierce rivalry with Brooks Koepka began around five years ago, with the pair regularly swapping insults with one another online.
And that seemed to be the root cause of his issues at TPC Southwind in 2021.
At the time, DeChambeau was receiving constant abuse from fans during his round due to his ongoing feud with Koepka.

Koepka actually urged fans to irritate DeChambeau as much as possible by offering free beer to anyone who partook in the ritual.
According to Golf Digest, the abuse that DeChambeau was receiving got so bad that he and his caddie actually approached police officers who were walking with their group on Sunday to complain.
There wasn’t much sympathy for DeChambeau at the time as he brought on a lot of the criticism he received himself.
However, there is no room for abusing players out on the golf course midway through their rounds.
Bryson DeChambeau’s popularity has sky-rocketed
A bit of friendly banter is fine, but when fans cross the line into personal abuse it is simply unacceptable.
Bryson DeChambeau’s popularity has risen significantly since that week at the FedEx St. Jude in 2021.
He is a huge YouTube star now and has unquestionably attracted a lot of young people to the game by making it more exciting.
It’s fair to say that he isn’t universally popular, though. The old-school traditionalists have never warmed to DeChambeau.
And he still has plenty of critics due to some of the behavior he displays when things don’t go his way.
At least he doesn’t seem to receive any kind of abuse while he’s playing anymore, and that is definitely a positive shift.
