Do we recycle a guy like Patricia? How about a guy like Riley with the caveat he hires a bona fide DC? I don't want a DC guy, besides Tomlin or Bellicheck, how many have worked out? Ryan Day? Slim pickings here! Thoughts?

Joe Brady is the clear first choice, but the Cards won't get a top HC candidate with the QB situation in shambles.

Pete Carroll was a defensive coordinator once upon a time.

I'd say Robert Saleh, but he already proved he's not good enough to fix another train wreck of an organization (NY Jets).

My suggestion is Lou Anarumo. He was in the running to be our coach when JG was selected (personally, I preferred him to JG). He's got Indy's D playing quite well this season and, like BA, is an older, longtime assistant coach who will never be among the hot, young candidates who get considered after each season.

take a coordinator from within our division

i say it everytime

a coordinator that knows us and our division and recently got a huge raise

i prefer a offensive guy but either way
There is so much logic to this.

McVay's and Shanahan's tree's have produced lots of successful guys. Their coaching tree currently includes:

-DeMeco Ryans
-Mike McDaniel
-Robert Saleh
-Matt LaFleur
-Kevin O'Connell
-Zac Taylor

I would definitely take an offensive guy. Even right now I would take Klint Kubiak or Mike LaFleur and they would be an instant upgrade over JG.

JG has burned me on wanting to take another defensive guy.

Fair enough. Bad teams run by defensive guys are also cursed with being boring.
It was actually Wilks who burned me on hiring a defensive guy. But at least Wilks held his staff accountable and fired his OC mid season. If Wilks was building "brick by brick" I guess JG is building "loss by loss".

A couple of those guys will be very available come January

Patricia, the guy with a terrible scheme who keeps a pencil behind his ear? Whose most notable accomplishment as a headcoach is screaming at his best player, Darius Slay, and angrily calling him a dick sucker for doing a jersey swap with OBJ after a game.

Several players on Patricia's teams have commented that he didnt give a crap about player health. Guys like Kerreyon Johnson had their careers ruined by him

Full court press on Jon Gruden & McCarthy
I'm definitely opposed to Gruden as our next head coach but I don't think McCarthy would be that bad relatively speaking. He could get us into the playoffs although we almost certainly wouldn't get close to the Super Bowl.

I don't agree. If Billy Boy is smart (highly unlikely, I know) and cleans house, it can be a highly desirable project. Get a GM/coach together and sell it as a "You both have the power to draft your chosen QB and build everything" situation.
