The 15-year-old accumulated 776 runs and cleared the boundary a staggering 72 times. The six-hitting tally set a new record for the competition as it surpassed Chris Gayle's record of 59 sixes.
Before Sooryavanshi, Sanju Samson held the distinction of being the youngest player to win this honour. Samson claimed it in 2013 as an 18-year-old with Rajasthan Royals, and that record survived untouched for over a decade.

Sooryavanshi did not just nudge that mark lower; he cut it by more than three full years, as he won the award at just 15 years and 2 months. At the other end of the age spectrum, Ruturaj Gaikwad remains the oldest winner in the award's history.
The Chennai Super Kings skipper was 24 years and 8 months old when he took it home in 2021, a season in which he also won the Orange Cap and an IPL title.

What is the eligibility to win the IPL Emerging Player of the Season award?
The BBCI have set strict eligibility criteria for a player to be a contender for the IPL Emerging Player of the Season award. They are as follows:
must be an uncapped player,
be born after 1st April 2000,
have played in 25 or fewer IPL matches (as of the start of the season),
have not previously won the Emerging Player Award.
