Very Cardinalesque you might say.
He's expected to be ready for training camp. Achilles isn't as long as ACL.Indy is paying him $44 million next year to probably only play the second half of the season and coming back from an Achilles tear.
Unless he works out as a long-term solution as QB. Then it would have been worth it.That would be the reach of all reaches.

Recovery Time
The recovery time for an Achilles rupture is typically longer than that for an ACL tear. While both injuries require extensive rehabilitation, the Achilles tendon is a more complex structure, and the recovery process can take longer. The exact recovery time depends on the extent of the injury and whether surgery is needed.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jones will face a 9-to-12-month recovery from the injury. The shorter end of that timeline would give the Duke product a chance to return in early September ahead of the 2026 season; a longer recovery would potentially sideline him for most of the campaign.
An Achilles rupture is absolutely longer than a ACL. Also, there is no way to say he will be ready by training camp this early and for sure won't feel comfortable running at first. The only one longer is a patellar tendon rupture.

Latest update on when Colts' Daniel Jones could return from injury
One NFL insider provided an injury update on Colts' QB Daniel Jones and when he could return to action.coltswire.usatoday.com
Yeah I think it’s o line then we trade up for Simpson….That would be teh reach of all reaches.
If that's the plan they better trade up before 16th because I think the Jets want him there.Yeah I think it’s o line then we trade up for Simpson….
Costs too much. Would likely cost next year's first. If that's the plan they better trade up before 16th because I think the Jets want him there.
That's a reason why I'm not in favor of trading back into the first round.Costs too much. Would likely cost next year's first.
They won’t have to. They could ( and will) trade down for a bunch of picks. Probably trade down as far as 20. One of them could be for Simpson and the other for a number of positions.I hope I'm wrong, but I've got this feeling that the Cards are gonna pull a shocker and pick Ty Simpson at #3. If we start hearing how much LaFleur likes the kid and people start talking about him going in the first half of round one...look out.

It's "The Way"I can see it now.
We trade back, take Simpson 10th, we win 3 games, Simpson is putrid, we're ready to move on, trade him for a 4th round pick. We look to draft Arch Manning #1 and he refuses to play here.
We wouldn't have gotten Eli to play here.I can see it now.

If they do there won’t be any further talk about it from them. I expect they’d try to trade down and try to get him. They couldn’t tip their hand in case someone else wanted him.I hope I'm wrong, but I've got this feeling that the Cards are gonna pull a shocker and pick Ty Simpson at #3. Would Dallas give us 12 and 20? They may want Reece as a parsons replacement…and Jerry loves a splash…we get Simpson at 12 before jets….then offensive tackle and d line at 34If they do there won’t be any further talk about it from them. Perfect scenario. I could Dallas going after Reese , Downs or even Love.Would Dallas give us 12 and 20? They may want Reece as a parsons replacement…and Jerry loves a splash…we get Simpson at 12 before jets….then offensive tackle and d line at 34

The stats are what they are because we had no running game.
Brissett is what his record says he is. You don’t get extra wins because you completed some passes and scored some TDs once you were down 17.
That’s why his QBR (an actual stat that takes game situations and rushing into account) was 41.2.
It’s much more likely that Brissett’s 2025 counting stats are an outlier than he’s become Geno Smith or something at age 33.
Add in a new offensive regime and you wonder why you should expect any carryover at all.

Nobody is saying he he Geno Smith. Everyone has been very clear they know what JB is but they don't see a better option.
Reports have been that San Fran is asking for the Sun and the moon for Jones.I know it’s rare to trade within the division, but I hope Monti has at least kicked the tires on a possible trade for Mack Jones. Maybe offer a 3rd and Brissett. The Niners are going to lose Jones after this year. The Cards 3rd is basically a late 2nd rounder. To me, Jones is a starter who just needed some time. He is big (6’3” and 220 lbs) and throws a very catchable ball. He is also kind of quirky but that is ok. I would much rather give him a chance than reach for a QB in the draft.
