He was a horrible college QB, he's been a historically terrible NFL QB.

The potential isn't there, it never was there, the Colts were idiots.
Legit one of the best movies ever.

Or maybe Matt loves his brother.
Reporting is that we offered Malik 2 years, 30 million a year. Matt LaFleur definitely endorsed Willis. But the Dolphins won the bidding war with more guaranteed money and an extra year on the deal.

Half the Dolphins staff was in GB, they know Willis even more than Mike getting phone calls from Matt.

If they offered him 2 for 30, which means they wanted him. Why not pay the extra freight and get the guy you wanted? Is that extra 7 mill and another year a deal breaker when it comes to the QB you want. The 7 mill that they won't spend anyway.

How can that be? He got 3 years 67 mil. Only way I see it is the guaranteed money was less.

Yeah I think Monti did bad here. If you wanted Willis getting outbid by a team with less than half the cap space we have is a bad look.

Maybe Bidwill had hard limits on the amount of guaranteed money he wanted to give Willis? Bidwill probably has the same hesitations many on this board have about Willis' limited sample size, its very possible he over ruled his coach. Big money QB deals always involve the owner.

Had to be the guaranteed money.
Possible, but why are they trying to sign the guy in the first place if you think you're going to be cutting him within 3 years? That shouldn't have been an issue at all.

Nah I think most teams want flexibility in the third year for even top FAs.

I think it's more that they overpaid and gave him a longer deal with more guaranteed money than he's worth because they had no choice with all their cap space being in the future.

So it will be something like $10m cap hit this year and the rest down the line.

If the Cards did that I'd want everyone fired and so would you.
Yep…especially after bidwill spent a quarter of a zillion dollars on the Kyler Murray contract…he wants to start over with a qb on a rookie deal
