How can that be? He got 3 years 67 mil. Only way I see it is the guaranteed money was less.
basically the dolphins deal is a 2 year, $45mm guaranteed contract with a non-guaranteed year at the end

maybe the Cards offer was a 2 year, $30-ish guaranteed kinda deal

For most positions, I agree. But not for a QB you've targeted.
Miami seemed to want flexibility in the third year. And they got it. They basically have a $20MM team option and $27 MM cap hit if they decline.

Cards could have made that third year $35 million and it wouldn’t make a difference. It’s practically a void year.

Offenfort is a wet noodle and Bidwill is a dolt. They could easily have won this deal.

Monti, like the previous coaches he hired, is so unbelievably conservative and risk averse it’s comical.

He is the GM version of the prevent defense.

No risk it, no biscuit.

I think it's more that they overpaid and gave him a longer deal with more guaranteed money than he's worth because they had no choice with all their cap space being in the future.

So it will be something like $10m cap hit this year and the rest down the line.

If the Cards did that I'd want everyone fired and so would you.
More about what they should have done with Kyler years ago. The Cardinals act like the cap is this barrier when it really isn't. It just shows that the excuse Monti could not have afforded to cut Kyler was just another poverty franchise excuse.

I can’t believe monti missed on Malik. We are cooked in 2026
.
We’ll never know but I wonder how the LeFleur/Monty dynamic is working in regards to the QB. You would think the HC’s assessment holds more weight and if LeFleur didn’t want Willis then he would rather draft his guy. I don’t trust Monti to maneuver up from our 2nd to get Simpson.

agree...more likely to maneuver down from 3 than up from 34 if he actually wants to get a specific guy

I might quit the season if they trade for Derek Carr. He’s 1 hit away from Steve Young.

I'll stick by my assessment and say Allar is trash. For some reason people think he's gotten better by being injured. He stunk healthy and will stink after being hurt.
