The Montgomery Advertiser asked its readers which AHSAA private school football team had the best chances of winning a state title in the 2026 season.

The AHSAA split member private and public schools for postseason play in January for the 2026-2028 reclassification period.

The poll opened on Sunday, Aug. 9, and ran until Thursday, Aug. 13, with readers given the opportunity to vote once per hour.

The private school readers picked as favorites to win a title in 2026 was Trinity Presbyterian. The Wildcats grabbed 48% of the votes, while Montgomery Academy garnered 28% of the votes.

The Wildcats finished behind Montgomery Academy last season in regional play but earned a postseason berth. Trinity Presbyterian will return important starters like Wilson Cherry and Land Sharpless ahead of the 2026 season.
