When the AHSAA decided to split its member private and public schools for postseason play beginning this season, it created interesting regions for Montgomery-area private schools.

The private schools were split into two classifications. Those with smaller enrollment numbers were put into a field of 29 teams in Single A, and the larger 16 private schools were put into the Double A classification.

The River Region will have five private schools compete in Single A for football, with Montgomery Catholic being the lone Double A school.

Both Montgomery Catholic and Montgomery Academy were both ranked in the ASWA's preseason football poll. The Montgomery Advertiser is asking its readers which Montgomery-area private school has the best chance of making it to the state title game in Mobile with a poll presented by The Vance Law Firm.

The poll will open Sunday, Aug. 9, and run through Aug. 13.
