Coming off an incredible 97-93 win over No. 15 Purdue, the Wisconsin Badgers have their sights set on the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments
An impressive Big Ten Tournament performance could help get a higher seed in March Madness, and that's something that can't be understated with where the Badgers are currently projected to be.
ESPN's Joe Lunardi updated his Bracketology projections at 8:45 p.m. EST on Saturday, March 7. Knowing that the update came in after Wisconsin's upset win over Purdue, all Badgers fans were wondering what that did to the team's hopes of landing a higher seed.
Lunardi currently has Wisconsin as the No. 6 seed in the East Region. That would see Wisconsin have its first set of games in St. Louis, Missouri.
For what it's worth, Wisconsin hasn't been projected as higher than a No. 6 seed this season. The team has knocked off quite a few of the nation's top teams, though it still has nine losses, six of which came in conference play.
The Badgers know a deep run in the Big Ten Tournament could get them up to a No. 5 seed, which would change the entire outlook of their bracket. Currently, a win in the first round over No. 11 Santa Clara or SMU would have the team facing No. 3 Iowa State or No. 14 Troy in the second round.
Looking at this projection, Michigan State is the No. 2 seed. The Badgers already have a dominant 21-point victory over the Spartans, so that's far from the scariest team to see at the bottom of the bracket. That said, the No. 1 seed is Duke, which is the only other team in the country (alongside Wisconsin) to hand Michigan a loss.
