Wisconsin has two more opportunities to improve its postseason positioning ahead of the Big Ten men's basketball tournament and NCAA Tournament.

The Badgers will face Maryland on March 4 at home before concluding the regular season at No. 14 Purdue on March 7. While the Maryland game does not carry much upside for the Badgers, the Purdue finale at Mackey Arena will be a Quad 1 opportunity.

In the meantime, here is where Wisconsin stands in the Big Ten standings and March Madness bracketology projections:

Where is Wisconsin Badgers in Big Ten standings?

Wisconsin is tied for fifth in the Big Ten standings with two games remaining in the regular season. The Badgers are effectively sixth, however, because Purdue currently holds the tiebreaker. (That could theoretically change later in the week, though.)

Here are the full Big Ten standings (with tiebreakers taken into account):

  1. Michigan (17-1)
  2. Nebraska (14-4)
  3. Michigan State (14-4)
  4. Illinois (13-5)
  5. Purdue (12-6)
  6. Wisconsin (12-6)
  7. UCLA (11-7)
  8. Iowa (10-8)
  9. Ohio State (10-8)
  10. Indiana (8-10)
  11. USC (7-11)
  12. Minnesota (7-11)
  13. Washington (6-12)
  14. Rutgers (5-13)
  15. Northwestern (5-13)
  16. Oregon (4-14)
  17. Maryland (4-14)
  18. Penn State (3-15)

Where could Wisconsin be seeded in Big Ten tournament?

All 18 teams in the Big Ten will appear in the conference tournament, which will span from March 10-15 at the United Center in Chicago. Wisconsin will at least receive a double-bye. The Badgers still have an improbable path to a triple-bye as well.

Wisconsin's most likely scenario – a win vs. Maryland and a loss at No. 14 Purdue – would make the Badgers the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament. A win against Purdue – regardless of what happens before that against Maryland – would at least give the Badgers the No. 5 seed.

The Badgers would need some help to get to a top-four seed. Wisconsin would need to go 2-0 against Maryland and Purdue, and either No. 11 Illinois would need to lose once or No. 8 Michigan State would need to lose twice.

(Wisconsin technically could move up to the No. 4 seed with the combination of a UW win against Purdue and Illinois losses to both Oregon and Maryland. But it's unlikely that Illinois loses either one of those games, let alone both.)

Where are Badgers projected to go in March Madness?

ESPN's Joe Lunardi listed Wisconsin as a No. 7 seed in his March 3 bracketology projections. The Badgers would face 10th-seeded Texas in the first round and presumably second-seeded Houston in Oklahoma City.

USA TODAY projected Wisconsin to be a No. 6 seed in its March 3 bracketology update. The Badgers would face 11th-seeded Texas A&M in the first round and either third-seeded Texas Tech or 14th-seeded Hawaii in the second round. Those games would be in San Diego.

CBS Sports' March 3 bracket predictions showed Wisconsin as a No. 6 seed as well. The Badgers would face 11th-seeded Texas A&M in the first round and then either third-seeded Alabama or 14th-seeded UC Irvine in the second round.

Where is Wisconsin ranked in NCAA's NET rankings?

Wisconsin is No. 32 in the NCAA's NET selection rankings after college basketball games on March 2. That is the same as where the Badgers were at this time a week ago. Here is Wisconsin's quadrant-by-quadrant record:

  • Quad 1: 6-7
  • Quad 2: 6-2
  • Quad 3: 2-0
  • Quad 4: 6-0

Maryland will be a Quad 3 game, and Purdue will be a Quad 1 game. Wisconsin's best win on its resume remains the Jan. 10 road win at Michigan, which is No. 2 in NET. The worst loss was on Feb. 25 at Oregon, which is No. 107 in NET.
