Wisconsin men's basketball got a big boost to its postseason résumé with its 92-90 win over No. 7 Illinois on Feb. 10.

The Badgers' overtime upset marked their second top-10 road win of the season. UW became one of two teams to have multiple top-10 wins on the road this season, according to UW sports information. (The other team ironically is Illinois.)

That is all while the Badgers, with a 17-7 record, have only one loss outside Quad 1, which was the two-point loss to USC on Jan. 25. Here is a closer look at Wisconsin's place in the conference standings and bracket projections:

Where is Wisconsin basketball in latest Big Ten standings?

Wisconsin remains tied for sixth place in the Big Ten standings after going 1-1 in the last week. The Badgers have the tiebreaker over UCLA, which also is 9-4 in conference play. Wisconsin's next three games are against teams with winning Big Ten records.

UW can improve at least one spot with an upset Feb. 13 against No. 10 Michigan State, which is one spot ahead of the Badgers in the standings. If the regular season ended today, UW would first play the winner of a game between the 11th- and 14th-seeded teams (USC and Minnesota) on the third day of the six-day conference tournament.

  1. Michigan (13-1)
  2. Illinois (11-3)
  3. Purdue (10-3)
  4. Nebraska (10-3)
  5. Michigan State (10-3)
  6. Wisconsin (9-4)
  7. UCLA (9-4)

Wisconsin basketball March Madness predictions: Where Badgers are projected to go in NCAA tournament bracket

ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi's most recent bracket projection was Feb. 10 before Wisconsin's win over Illinois. That was when he had the Badgers as a No. 9 seed in Philadelphia. UW hypothetically would face eighth-seeded North Carolina State in the first round and top-seeded Connecticut in the second round.

USA TODAY's Feb. 10 bracketology projections – also published before the win over Illinois – similarly had the Badgers as a No. 9 seed in Oklahoma City. UW would face eighth-seeded Georgia and top-seeded Houston.

CBS Sports' Feb. 12 bracket predictions slotted Wisconsin as a No. 8 seed, facing ninth-seeded Miami (Fla.) and then presumably top-seeded Arizona. On3's Feb. 12 bracket projections listed UW as a No. 8 seed in Greenville, South Carolina, where it theoretically would face ninth-seeded Texas A&M and then top-seeded Duke.

The college basketball analytics site Bart Torvik also has Wisconsin as a No. 8 seed in its Teamcast projections.
