The Kentucky volleyball team opened up their 2026 season with an exhibition win over Ohio on Saturday. The regular season is still a few weeks away, but they looked quite ready in a 3-0 sweep.
The Wildcats are expected to be one of the nation's best teams this season, thanks to returning stars like Brooklyn DeLeye and Molly Tuozzo among others, along with the addition of star hitter Morgan Gaerte.
The American Volleyball Coaches Association agrees with Kentucky's chances at another deep postseason run. They released their first top 25 of the season, and the Cats come in at No. 3 behind the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Texas Longhorns. Kentucky did receiver four first place votes, which was the second-most of any team.
It's set to be a fun year for Kentucky Wildcats volleyball. As the sport continues to grow, the program does as well, and is at the forefront of that popularity with 11 nationally televised matches this season. They should be one of the nation's best teams all year, and are exciting to watch.
