The offensive line has become one of the more appreciated aspects of team-building after being forgotten about for years, it seemed. Teams now build up their offenses through the trenches before attempting to add the right quarterback and pieces to make plays happen.
The one spot specifically of the offensive line that gets built up is the offensive tackle position. Some teams, like the Vikings, have made it a point to have bookend tackles in place to protect the interior aspects of the line. They have both Christian Darrisaw and Brian O'Neill in place, who are working on new extensions completed over the last couple of seasons, and they make the Minnesota line one of the best.
We say this because PFF recently ranked the top offensive tackles in the NFL, and we wanted to see where they ranked. When it came to Christian Darrisaw, he ranked 18th overall in their piece, making him be in the bottom half of their rankings.
They wrote about the ranking, saying, "At his peak, Darrisaw is one of the best tackles in the NFL. Unfortunately, he has yet to play all 17 games in a given season and suited up on fewer than 600 snaps in each of 2024 and 2025. He posted a career-low 65.6 PFF grade last season, but recorded an 80.0-plus grade in three consecutive seasons prior to that. Still just 27 years old, Darrisaw should have ample opportunities to prove himself an elite player once again."
His teammate, Brian O'Neill, ranked 14th in the rankings, meaning the Vikings are one of a few teams that can say both tackles made the top 32.
