There's no such thing as a "gimme" in SEC basketball play, but Nate Oats' Alabama Crimson Tide will play back-to-back games against two teams with losing records this week: the Ole Miss Rebels and the last-place South Carolina Gamecocks.

Alabama's games at Ole Miss and at home against South Carolina come on the heels of impressive wins over Texas A&M and Auburn last week. In the win over the Aggies, Aden Holloway led the Crimson Tide (16-7 overall, 6-4 SEC) with 20 points. Latrell Wrightsell's go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:11 to play put Alabama ahead for good.

In Saturday's win at Auburn, Alabama faced a 10-point deficit in the closing minutes of the first half but rallied for a 96-92 win at Neville Arena. Labaron Philon had 25 points to lead the Crimson Tide, who got 17 from freshman Amari Allen and 15 from Holloway for Alabama's second straight road win at Auburn.

The Crimson Tide have eight games remaining on their SEC regular season schedule as March Madness and the NCAA Tournament loom closer and closer.

With rematches against Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi State still ahead, plus LSU, Georgia, and a top 25 Arkansas Razorbacks team on the horizon leading up to the SEC Tournament in Nashville, Alabama will have a chance to improve its seeding in the NCAA Tournament between now and Selection Sunday.

With that in mind, here's where Alabama sits in national outlets' latest bracketology updates and March Madness outlooks.

Where does Alabama basketball land in latest NCAA Tournament, March Madness projections?

In Tuesday's bracketology update from longtime ESPN college basketball prognosticator Joe Lunardi, Alabama is a projected No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament after its win at Auburn.

If the NCAA Tournament were to begin today, Lunardi sees the Crimson Tide taking on a team they faced near the end of their nonconference schedule: the South Florida Bulls (16-8), the projected No. 12 seed in the first round of the West Region in Portland, Oregon.

If Alabama wins its first-round game, Lunardi sees the Tide squaring off against another opponent from their 2025-26 nonconference schedule: the No. 4 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-2), barring a first-round Gonzaga upset by 13th-seeded California Baptist.

Over at USA TODAY Sports, college basketball analysts Paul Myerberg, Erick Smith, and Eddie Timanus also have Alabama as a projected No. 5 seed in their latest March Madness forecast. That outlook sees Alabama facing No. 12 seed Stephen F. Austin (22-3), the projected automatic qualifier from the Southland Conference.

Similarly, USA TODAY Sports' projection sees Alabama facing Gonzaga in a second-round rematch if the first round goes chalk.

CBS Sports' latest bracketology also sees an Alabama-Stephen F. Austin first-round matchup, only with the Crimson Tide earning the No. 4 seed and the Lumberjacks the No. 13 seed.
