Canada are one of the three host nations at the 2026 World Cup and kick off their campaign on Friday, June 12.

The tournament got underway on Thursday in Mexico, with another of the co-hosts securing a 2-0 win over South Africa.

Attention now turns towards Group B and Canada, and their meeting with Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game and the opening ceremony that will take place beforehand.

When and Where is Canada’s opening ceremony at the 2026 World Cup​


Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s meeting will kick off at 8pm BST, which is 3pm Eastern Standard Time.

Ahead of the tie, the opening ceremony for the second host nation to play at the tournament will begin at 6:30pm BST, or 1:30pm EST.

The ceremony is set to take place in Toronto, one of the nation’s major cities, at the BMO Field, which has been temporarily renamed as Toronto Stadium for the 2026 World Cup.

In the United Kingdom, the game and the opening ceremony will be available on the BBC.

In the United States, fans can watch via FOX or FOX One, while those inside Canada can watch on TSN, CTV or Crave.

There will be a number of notable names performing at the opening ceremony, including the famous Canadian singer, Michael Buble.

The likes of Alessia Cara, Alanis Morissette, Elyanna, Vegedream, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy and William Prince are also set to appear at the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, Canada will be looking to secure their first win of the tournament and put themselves at the top of Group B.

After taking on Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday, they are set to face Qatar on June 18 before playing Switzerland in their final group clash on Wednesday, June 24.
