Thats a good move by Marty, nice thinking.

More important question, since when have we had a guy named "Joe" on our team? I just saw him, looked like #59. Thats an awesome jersey!

Where the heck have you guys been. He has been on the team since the start of the season. Bears drafted him in the 4th round and dropped and we picked him off of waivers. Read post #11 at this thread:

This guy is going to be a a sleeper for us next year, mark my words. In the mold of Ray Thompson with the same speed yet stronger, and slightly bigger, just to raw to make an impact right now.

Whoa Joe calm down! You'd think he was your brother or something?

I should have put a smiley in there somewhere, but I am just that pumped up about the guy, so there will be no calming down from my end. :D

There is no need to have him come in this late in the season. If Brees goes down, it's best for SD that they have Flutie in there to run the show. This is playoff time, not try to see what the rookie is going to do.

Very smart move here.

San Diego Chargers QB Doug Flutie has replaced rookie QB Philip Rivers as the team's No. 2 quarterback for Week 15. Rivers is serving as the team's emergency quarterback.

It is getting down to crunch time for the Chargers. At this point Flute has more experience than Rivers and probably would give them a better chance to win than Rivers if their starter goes down. Rivers just does not have the experience and he is not going to get it in the playoffs. They are probably getting Flute some reps so he will be prepared if needed. You do not play rookies in the playoffs if they have never started. Big Ben is no longer a rookie and a differenct animal. Rivers is probably wondering just when he will ever get a chance to start? Not this year and probably not next year so he has to be very much disappointed and would like a trade. I could see Dallas making a strong move on him at the end of the year.

That's all it is, same with Dallas replacing Henson with Romo, they elevated Henson to #2 figuring if they were out of contention, they'd play Henson. Because the NFC sucks they weren't out of contention, he only played sparingly, and they decided may as well move Romo back and let Henson get his experience later. I think they'll send him to NFL Europe, he needs to play, that seems the best way to do that since he's been out of football so long.

If Marty decides to keep Brees & he continues to play as well as he's playin', Jacob may not get to play until his nickname inevitably becomes...

"Old Man Rivers."

How's a Cardinal Roster for 2005 Look with:

McCown and Rivers battling for #1 QB position.

T. Henrey and M. Bennett for the RB position.

P/u a FA stuffing DT like Norman Hand or ?

Draft in rounds 2-7 BPA's - CB, MLB, OL, OL,

Garbage. Rivers was underhyped, if anything. He will be a good QB in this league.

So will Akili Smith. Rivers had a good senior bowl week and shot up the boards. Previously,he was proably a 3rd rounder at best.
