International players have increasingly become some of the brightest stars in professional basketball. The Seattle Storm hope that trend continues by drafting Spanish center Awa Fam as the No. 3 overall selection in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
Fam, who turns 20 on June 17, is an upside pick for the Wings. But as a team making an uphill climb from the bottom of the standings, she is a prospect who will have time to develop as Dallas ideally progresses into a contender.
Fam already has professional experience internationally, playing four seasons for Valencia BC in EuroLeague. This year, she scored 9.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. She was loaned to Liga Feminina’s Gernika KESB for the 2024-25 season and averaged 15.9 points and 10.7 rebounds.
At the 2023 FIBA Under-19 World Cup, Fam averaged 10.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists, helping Spain’s national team to a silver medal. She also averaged more than eight points and four rebounds per game playing last summer’s EuroBasket tournament and the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament this past spring.
