New Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh met with the media at the annual AFC coaches breakfast at the NFL annual league meeting and discussed a myriad of topics, ranging from current players, the draft, and even touched on his relationship with Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen
While all of his comments were insightful, his thoughts on prospects and where the Titans stand at this stage were especially interesting, given the NFL draft is just weeks away. Although, as one would expect from this part of the pre-draft process, nothing concrete could be drawn from them.
Of course, one of the first questions centered on the top of the draft and what the Titans are thinking.
“I think when you look at all the different gamechangers that are at the top of the draft, whether it’s the three big pass rushers that everyone talks about, or Jeremiyah (Love), they can all change a game in one play.” Saleh said, “They’re impactful players.”
One of the follow-up questions to the prospects at the top of the draft was about their age, and the answer was interesting.
“It depends on whether we feel like he’s maxed himself out. Are we watching someone who can get better, or are we watching someone who, at his age, hit the ceiling of what he’s capable of?” Saleh said, “I think, when looking at older guys, every player is independent of what he’s capable of in the future.”
At this stage, nothing Saleh said pertaining to the draft will likely move the needle, but it is clear that he and Mike Borgonzi are focused on adding talent to the roster.
